Israel, backed by Western leaders and mainstream media, are deflecting from this genocide by attempts to cement the construction of anti-Zionism as antisemitism to protect Israel and its allies from accountability. 

Zionists and racist British citizens feel encouraged by the political establishment that is showing unwavering support to Israel and are reproducing their anti-Palestinian and Islamophobic propaganda that turns myths into facts and the bully into the underdog. 

Invoking the holocaust is not an excuse to unleash a genocide on the Palestinian people whom they have expected to dominate and repress for 75 years without any resistance. 

I don’t know what other disasters need to happen before a ceasefire is enforced with steps towards accountability for all those genocide cheerleaders.

“Israel” silencing a Palestinian lecturer with “anti-Semitic” claims on Al Mayadeen

A first-year student was accused of being anti-Semitic for the mere reason of holding a placard that said, “End the Palestinian Holocaust.”
“I wasn’t part of the event”, Shahd stated, “and I said in a Twitter thread that I wouldn’t myself use this language because I understand the Instrumentalization and weaponization of terms like that.” Despite her clarification, people rushed to attack her based on the Twitter post. 
Shahd felt that it would be “ridiculous that something like that would amount to accusing a Palestine student of anti-Semitism when she was using this term while thinking of the longstanding genocide that has been committed against the Palestinian people by Israel.”

Gaza Suicides Amid a Gradual Genocide by Israel by Shahd Abusalama

I worry as I know the immense violence that Palestinians endure, the multigenerational trauma they carry, and the real pressures they navigate around to survive the life of punishment they are born into, for simply being Palestinians. Collective punishment is a war crime according to the 4th Geneva Convention to which Israel is a signatory. Despite that, Israel continues to act with impunity committing daily war crimes in the occupied terrorises, undermining human rights conventions and International Law. This is happening as the world watches Israel consolidating its system of apartheid across historic Palestine, sentencing Palestinians to a gradual genocide as part of their settler-colonial racist strategies that fights the very existence of the Palestinians on their lands.

Protesting Israel’s Dehumanization and Demonization of the Palestinians by Shahd Abusalama

Israel’s culture of impunity assumes they can continue committing a gradual genocide against our existence, without us fighting back to reclaim our humanity and hold them accountable. If we “dare to dream,” to use Eurovision’s slogan this year, we face Israel’s multi-faced violence, which chases us wherever we go, even when we physically break free of Israeli systems of oppression to Europe. And unfortunately, the Israeli narrative continues to enjoy Western bias despite growing resistance from believers in global justice across the world. As a result, our suffering and yearning for freedom and justice is left unheard and unseen in the mainstream. Meanwhile, Israel and Western governments are criminalizing the BDS movement, which has given us an empowering non-violent tool to tackle those intersecting international systems of oppression against us, and a solidarity tactic to break this chain of complicity.

Has Gaza Ever Been Livable? by Shahd Abusalama

It’s been forever unlivable. We have expressed our pain and recounted the brutality that we endured before the eyes of the whole world. We voiced our desperation in so many ways, ranging from testimonies, to art and documentary, to armed-struggle against our occupying power, Israel, which has the mightiest military in the world. It doesn’t need an expert or the UN or Save the Children or an international body to testify that Gaza ‘has become unlivable‘ or ‘might become uninhabitable by 2020’.

Gaza has been unlivable as a direct result of Israel’s existence, and the whole world has to be accountable for this ongoing dehumanizing cycle of violence that is endorsed by treating Israel as a normal state, which effectively means sentencing Palestinians to eternal misery.

International boycott of Israel is the way forward.
