UT students, community members protest Israeli-American Council Summit on The Daily Texan

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

Facing the entrance to the Fairmont Hotel, over 125 students and community members gathered on Saturday in downtown Austin to demand the shutdown of the Israeli-American Council  National Summit. The annual IAC Summit was held this year to celebrate “Israel’s 75th birthday”… Protesters gathered on 2nd St. at Sir Swante Neighborhood Park, chanting and holding signs which read “Free Palestine” and “#ShutDownIAC.” The protest was organized by Shut Down IAC, a campaign led by UT student organization Palestine Solidarity Committee in conjunction with other pro-Palestine groups from across the state.

Organizers from Shut Down IAC also said that they protested the Summit because it normalized Israeli occupation and falsely presented the Israeli state as progressive and peaceful. “They cover up their war crimes through tactics known as rainbow washing in order to appeal to liberals and progressives,” said a member of PSC during a speech. “They’re rebranding a country founded upon the genocide of Palestinians as a welcoming place for all people.”

Protesters Gather Outside John Hagee’s Cornerstone Church to Decry His ‘Extremist Message’ on Israel on San Antonio Current

“Our specific issue is the continued support Hagee gives to Israel’s war economy for its occupation and genocide against Palestinians,” said Judith Norman of Jewish Voice for Peace, another of the protest organizers.

‘Blood Is On Your Hands’: Nikki Haley Interrupted Over Gaza Violence on Carbonated.TV

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley was interrupted several times during her speech on Tuesday over her recent statements on Israeli military violence… “Nikki Haley, the blood is on your hands. You continue to sign off on the genocide of a native people,” one student shouted out at the start of her speech.

Texas: Israel Block Party sparks annual protest

While more than a thousand students came to celebrate Israeli culture at the Israel Block Party on the East Mall, dozens protested the party from feet away… “Our biggest goal is to send a specific message [and] express exactly what we feel the block party is doing, which is a propaganda event which hides a very heinous reality of cultural appropriation and genocide,” Khan said.

Rania Masri gives Barack Obama a lesson on the meaning of ‘barbaric’

“Barbaric, Mr. Obama, is what is coming out of Israel right now – which is open calls for the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.  This is what is written in Israeli newspapers.  The current Deputy Prime Minister who calls for that against the Palestinians in Gaza. [Note, he says, “We must blow Gaza back to the Middle Ages —destroying all the infrastructure, including roads and water.”]… Barbaric is what historian Benny Morris says, a historian who recognizes that every single Israeli village and Israeli town is built on a Palestinian village and a Palestinian town and yet he justifies this genocide and this ethnic cleansing and he recently called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza. That is barbaric.”
