About 300 people marched to Parliament on Tuesday afternoon to protest against the recent deadly Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip. Chanting “Allahu Akbar” (God is great), the protesters waved Palestinian flags. Some protesters wore T-shirts with “Free Gaza, free Palestine”, and carried placards that read: “Stop Israel genocide of Palestine” and “Zionism – a menace to peace”.

The Implementation and Protection of Palestinian Solidarity Rights Bill is a citizen’s bill, written by human rights attorney Ziyaad Patel and endorsed by Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s grandson, who is one of the ruling party’s parliamentarians. The bill was discussed at an online seminar on 20 March organised by the South African Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Coalition as part of Israeli Apartheid Week.
… “We know that the Palestinian cause is at a tipping point where Palestinians are undergoing an incremental genocide. South Africa sits with a huge responsibility and we need to be taking the Palestinian cause to the next level,” said Patel.

South Africa: The Day Gaza Becomes Uninhabitable by Anna Majavu and Anastasya Eliseeva

Palestinian-South African academic Haidar Eid speaks to New Frame about the day the United Nations said the densely populated Gaza Strip would officially become unsuitable for human habitation. In 2012, the United Nations published research suggesting that by 2016, the main aquifer supplying water to about two million Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip would be “unusable” and that by 2020, the aquifer would have been damaged irreversibly. This would make Gaza uninhabitable by 2020.
… “The terror of it is that Gazans die every day from preventable illnesses as a result of dirty water or the lack of a life-saving operation, or starvation due to the crops that fail to grow without sufficient irrigation, or babies dying because they cannot be kept warm in their first few days of life,” Eid said… Ilan Pappé, an Israeli academic who teaches at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, has described Israel’s policy towards Gaza as one of “incremental genocide”.

“The illegal state of Israel had unleashed terror on the innocent but strong-hearted people of Palestine for the past 60 years, killing unarmed men, women and children, demolishing their houses and placing thousands in illegal detention and torture. All these are taking place before the very eyes of the world but for reasons best known to them, the international community is simply looking the other way as this state terrorism is taking place with what could best be described as genocide against the people of Palestine.”

Sudan: Netanyahu and Al-Bashir Should Have Their Day in Court by The Namibian

Please make a donation at our Indiegogo fundraising campaign.

Should the ICC indict the four-time Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for war crimes and genocide being committed in the occupied/colonised Palestine, it will make history… Unlike Al-Bashir, Netanyahu has not been directly charged but he has slammed the decision by the International Criminal Court to launch a preliminary investigation into possible war crimes in the Palestinian territories, calling such a move “absurd”. He says Palestinians do not have a state and can only get one through direct negotiations with Israel. “No state, no standing, and no case.” Quite a stupid argument to say the least. But thank God – the ICC has now admitted Palestine as a member.

South Africa: Will the ANC Government Ever Prosecute South Africans Serving in the Israeli Defence Force? by Eddie Cottle

When South African security services prevented a Cape Town girl from boarding a plane allegedly to join ISIS, many South Africans were pleased but at the same time surprised at how swift the reaction of our security services were. How come the same reaction is not applied to South African Zionist Jews serving in the Israeli Defence Force (IDF)?.. With the ‘incremental genocide’ underway in Palestine, according to Israeli historian Ilan Pappé, world action is most urgent. The time has come for the ANC government to prosecute South Africans serving in the Israeli Defence force or has the ANC lost its moral compass completely?
