I think about what it costs us, the Palestinians, dispossessed, blockaded, bombed, and dispossessed again, every time we’re told that a new framework designed to administer our future without our participation represents a new beginning. We danced every time we saw a light at the end of the tunnel, only to realize, every single time, it was the executioner’s candle. We’re expected to welcome the Board’s reconstruction agenda, but reconstruction will not dismantle the ways a genocide is meant to persist.

A Lawsuit Could Expose U.S. Organizations’ Involvement in West Bank Settlements by Zaha Hassan at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

The case almost ended abruptly when a judge dismissed the plaintiffs’ claims in August 2017, asserting that the matter was outside the court’s purview. But the appeals court found that not all the issues at stake were political and beyond the court’s jurisdiction. Its ruling came down to two pivotal questions: whether the court would have to determine who held sovereignty over the territory in question, and whether the judges were empowered to hear claims of genocide allegedly committed by Israeli settlers funded by the defendants.
