The disavowal of founding violence is deeply embedded in the settler mindset in both the U.S. and Israel. Descendants of settlers strive to maintain this disavowal, laboring daily to forget that their/our presence in the place they/we call home is predicated on genocide, dispossession, and structural violence. For American settlers who support Israel, this disavowal is doubled. They run from their complicity in the U.S. colonial project while simultaneously perpetuating a false narrative of Israel as acting on redemption instead of displacement, on return instead of ethnic cleansing. It is difficult to ignore connections between the settler violence of the U.S. and Israel when these states openly collaborate to build identical surveillance systems and border walls, when Israeli settlers draw explicit comparison between their settler project and the U.S.’s genocidal concept of “Manifest Destiny,” or when one sees a map that directly ties the confiscation of land in one settler state to the confiscation of land in the other. The inability to reconcile one’s own role in settler violence, in either or both places, produces the kind of emotion that might induce someone to vandalize a solidarity mural near the top of its thirty-foot tall frame. In sum, this emotion also likely drove the perpetrator to act in honor of the hallmark of the settler mindset: simultaneous erasure and disavowal.

Living the Panther Dream – An Interview with Black Panther Party Veteran Member Aaron Dixon by Yoav Litvin

I feel that the fight between Zionists and Palestinians is a crucial anti colonial struggle, the result of which will profoundly affect the world. We need to link what is happening in this country to what is happening in Israel/Palestine and other colonial, white supremacist projects. Every tax payer needs to ask themselves – how can we continue to allow the continued genocide and apartheid of Palestinian people? That is the heartbeat and center of conflict in the whole world. We have to end the occupation of Palestine and the exploitation of Black and Brown people by capitalist forces worldwide.

Condemning Israeli ‘War Crimes,’ Taxpayers Call to Shut Off Aid by Brian Eakin

U.S. taxpayers have brought a federal complaint to halt U.S. aid of Israel, saying the money is being used to fund war crimes in the Palestinian territories. “We’re trying to cut off aid to Israel based on its human-rights record,” attorney Martin McMahon said in an interview.

As laid out in McMahon’s Nov. 16 complaint, the U.S. Departments of Treasury, State and Defense have helped facilitate a “master plan” to permanently colonize Palestinian land and “de-nationalize” the Palestinian people…

… By committing crimes against humanity, genocide and denationalizing the civilian population, Israel has rendered the permanent annexation of the West Bank a “fait accompli,” according to the 69-page complaint. American taxpayers have been funding these operations for the past 30 years, the complaint alleges.

Ignored Root Cause of Occupied Palestine Violence by Stephen Lendman

Israel and America share full responsibility. Partnering in high crimes against peace. Longstanding. Unspeakable. Viciousness writ large. Slow-motion genocide. Washington supporting Israel’s killing machine. Operating unaccountably. Murdering Palestinians in cold blood. In one premeditated war after another. Ruthless collective punishment. Horrific abuse. Ongoing daily. Other forms of mistreatment… John Kerry regurgitating White House rubbish. Calling Tuesday’s attack “pure terror and senseless brutality.” Ignoring Israel’s worst crimes. Longstanding slow-motion genocide. Occupation harshness brutality. Creating an atmosphere for retaliation. Turning a blind eye to its root cause.

Genocide in Gaza: Global outrage, resistance and a wider war? by Ashahed M. Muhammad

A massive march and rally was held outside the White House in Washington, D.C., drawing thousands protesting Israel’s genocidal military assault against the Palestinian people, and the U.S. government’s financial military support… “We watch in horror as Israeli occupation forces destroyed mosques, schools, hospitals, agricultural areas, industries, and even the only power station in Gaza. We ask people of conscience to contact media and politicians to ensure that Israel is not immune from compliance with International Humanitarian Law. We also ask for expansion of campaigns of boycotts, divestment, and sanctions (BDS). Hundreds of thousands around the world demonstrated for Gaza and we are grateful. But more actions at this stage are needed to prevent large-scale genocide and human catastrophe in Gaza,” Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh noted.

De Blasio’s support for Israeli genocide and the limits of ‘progressivism’ by Ben Becker

“While tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets worldwide against the siege of Gaza, the Senate voted 100-0 to support it. That of course includes senators Elizabeth Warren, “the socialist” Bernie Sanders and Al Franken. Their liberal conscience was apparently unaffected by the images of murdered Palestinian children, whose deaths passed without mention in the Congressional resolution. A couple days earlier, New York Mayor Bill De Blasio, the celebrity progressive of the moment, likewise maintained his steadfast public support for Israel and its “right to defend itself.”…De Blasio’s speech in front of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in January wasn’t just an endorsement of Israel. It was a pledge of servitude. He declared that defending Israel was “part of his job description” as mayor of New York — a statement that left many New Yorkers scratching their heads. He declared that City Hall “will always be open to AIPAC” and that,“When you need me to stand by you or Washington or elsewhere, I will answer the call, and I’ll answer it happily, ’cause that’s my job.”
