States defunding UNRWA may be violating genocide convention: expert on The New Arab

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  • A UN expert warned Sunday that countries defunding the UN agency for Palestinian refugees were breaching a court order to provide effective aid in Gaza and could be violating the international genocide convention.
  • A number of donor countries – including Australia, Britain, Finland, Germany and Italy – on Saturday followed the lead of the United States in suspending additional funding to UNRWA.
  • That came after Israel alleged that several of the UN agency’s staff members were involved in Hamas’s 7 October attack. The Israeli allegations were based on confessions obtained in interrogations and have not been independently investigated. Israel has killed more than 150 UNRWA staff in Gaza since the start of its latest offensive on Gaza.
  • Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, warned that the decision to pause funding to UNRWA “overtly defies” the order by the International Court of Justice to allow effective humanitarian assistance” to reach Gazans.
  • “This will entail legal responsibilities – or the demise of the (international) legal system,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Outrage in West Bank after Gaza massacre by Mohamed Najib

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

Palestinian Premier Mohammad Shtayyeh… said: “The aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip is organized state terrorism, and an attempt to export the internal crisis that the extremist government of Israel is facing, and a practical translation of the doctrine of killing, arson and genocide, which those in power in Israel have long professed. The aggression against the strip is an extension of the catastrophe that befell our people in 1948…”

From Mexico to Palestine: Resisting militarisation through transnational solidarity by Erick Viramonte

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

The fighting companion from Palestine, linked resistance against Israeli colonialism with resistance against militarisation, especially in southern Mexico. He asserted that “Palestine is our future here in Mexico too, because it combines neoliberalism, colonialism, apartheid, corruption, war, crime, all in the name of law and order for some people against others.” He emphasised common trends in both cases, such as the divisive policies that underlined violence against compatriots, genocide, land appropriation, dispossession, advancement of mega-projects that bring crime, drugs and prostitution, and the instalment of fear among the population to sustain militarisation.

Why Palestinian activists believe Jordanian film Amira fabricated the reality of prison ‘sperm smuggling’ by Maryam Elsaieh

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Abo Fahmi says that the whole process of freeing the sperm from prison is “reviving the soul of resistance for the prisoner and his family”. He says that “ending the bloodline does not just apply to the prisoner – it affects all Palestinians, and infringes their human rights. It is genocide.”

The double injustice of climate change in Occupied Palestine by Emad Moussa

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

… it’s imperative to remember that fundamental to the Zionist settler-colonialism is the transformation of Palestinians into fully dependent subjects, stripped of the means to function on their own or establish an independent state. As Israel manufactures and perpetuates this collective deprivation, not only does it emphasise a racist, colonial hierarchy, but – worse – it takes away Palestinians’ basic means to fend for themselves against climate change. Stripping a group of the means of self-defence against climate change may be equal to committing climate genocide.

Israel’s homophobic education minister Rafi Peretz peddles a vile doctrine, racist to its core by David Sheen

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

If there were any remaining doubts about Peretz’ odious ideology, he dispelled them this week when his ministry co-sponsored a ceremony honoring another arch-racist Israeli rabbi, Yitzchak Ginsburgh… the rabbi who published “The King’s Torah,” a religious manual that grants Jews the license to kill any non-Jew that they fear may one day threaten them, even babies. Casual observers of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are unlikely to have noticed this last news item, seeing as it did not receive even a thousandth of the press coverage given to Peretz professing, and then backtracking, on his homophobia.
… In 2016, when he was the Chief Rabbi of the Israeli Army, Peretz bestowed his prestige upon the author of “The King’s Torah,” Yitzhak Shapira, joyously dancing with him at his daughter’s wedding.
Idolising assassins and loathing leftists, inverting the Holocaust and justifying genocide: these are the ideas that Israel’s national religious camp imparts to its students, the ideas that they wish to instill in all Jewish youth, in Israel and abroad.
For over a decade, Netanyahu has presided over this insidious process. But now with Rafi Peretz as education minister, we can expect it to occur even quicker.

Eurovision tells us everything about Europe’s ‘vision’ for Palestinians: acquiescence by Randa Abdel-Fattah

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

That Israel is hosting Eurovision tells us everything about Europe and the western world’s “vision” for Palestinians: acquiescence.

Accept your oppression, the theft and occupation of your land, the slow genocidal erasure of Gaza, the airstrikes and slaughter.

Do not envisage freedom, resistance, liberation.

Do not imagine we, the international community, will hold Israel to account for its defiance of international and human rights law.

Jewish Nation-State Law divorces Israel from any claim to democracy by Ramzy Baroud

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Seventy years of Israeli Jewish supremacy, genocide, ethnic cleansing, wars, sieges, mass incarceration and numerous discriminatory laws — all aimed at the very destruction of the Palestinian people — should have given enough clues that Israel was never a democracy to begin with. The Jewish Nation-State Law is merely the icing on the cake.

Einstein and the ghost of Herut 70 years on by Ramzy Baroud

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Albert Einstein, along with other Jewish luminaries, including Hannah Arendt, had a letter published in The New York Times on December 4, 1948. That was only a few months after Israel had declared its independence and as hundreds of Palestinian villages were being demolished after their inhabitants were expelled. The letter denounced Israel’s newly founded Herut party and its young leader, Menachem Begin… In the letter, Einstein and his co-signatories described Herut (“Freedom”) as a “political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to Nazi and fascist parties.”

… On April 19, Israel celebrated its independence day. The “Nazi and fascist” mentality that defined Herut in 1948 now defines the most powerful ruling class in Israel. Israel’s leaders speak openly of genocide and murder, yet they celebrate and promote Israel as if it was an icon of civilization, democracy and human rights.

The Rohingya: Southeast Asia’s Palestinians by Nada Elia

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

This is despite the fact that the UN’s own definition of genocide would incriminate Israel. Additionally, Israel has maintained its Jewish supremacy against the “demographic threat” posed by the Palestinian people through a violent military occupation, punctuated by episodes of all-out wars against the Gaza Strip. It describes these episodes as “mowing the lawn”, a sanitised expression that erases the indiscriminate violence against the two million mostly-civilian refugees trapped in one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Myanmar stripped the Rohingya of their citizenship in 1982, and has since engaged in episodic attacks against this community, repeatedly forcing them to flee into neighboring countries, with harrowing stories of murder, rape and torched villages. Myanmar’s official position is that the Rohingya are originally from Bangladesh, and it refers to them as “Bengalis,” just as Israel would have the Palestinians be “southern Syrians,” (as Golda Meir put it) or “Jordanian,” and refers to them as “Arab,” rather than Palestinian.
