Petition to Prime Minister of Canada/Premier ministre du Canada Justin Trudeau: Stop the genocide and illegal occupation/destruction of Palestine by Robert Saemerow

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Stop the genocide and illegal occupation/destruction of Palestine. Israel is bulldozing villages and homes. Destroying Palestinian lives by its illegal occupation and crimes against humanity. Shooting unarmed men, women, children, medics and reporters. Now facing a UN backlash I call upon my Canadian government to support Palestine. Something that is long overdue. We need to put sanctions and tariffs on products and companies owned by Israel. It is the right and Canadian thing to do. Ireland is doing this. Canada should as well because “we stand on guard for thee.”

Deal of the century’ committed to realisation of ‘Greater Israel’ project by Michael Jansen

Trump has also attempted to remove 5 million Palestinian refugees from consideration if and when peace talks are convened. His administration has paid only $65 million of the usual US contribution of $365 million to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides for refugees living in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Trump and his team seek to remove descendants of the 750,000 Palestinians driven from their homes and villages during Israel’s war of establishment. This would leave only the dying generation, estimated at 40,000, and, ultimately, lead to UNRWA’s demise.

The majority of the refugees would no longer be regarded as refugees and would be absorbed by host countries, which would receive funding, perhaps even the currently missing $300 million, to provide jobs, homes, schools and infrastructure to sustain the resettled Palestinians.

Once this happens, the Trumps expect that Palestinians’ attachment to Palestine, their homeland, will fade in time. Palestinians would cease to exist. Those living in the West Bank and East Jerusalem would live under apartheid, 1948 Palestinians with Israeli citizenship would continue to be regarded as “Israeli Arabs” and remain second-class citizens, and others would join their exiled brethren. The word “Palestine” would, in the pipedreams of the Trump gang, cease to exist. Genocide by occupation and dispersion would become the fate of the Palestinian people.

Israel vs. Palestine: 10 key points about public discourse by Pauline Park

Israeli ethnic cleansing, apartheid and genocide. Zionists vehemently reject application of the terms ‘ethnic cleansing,’ ‘apartheid’ and ‘genocide’ to Israel’s behavior as well as the equation of Zionism itself with racism, but in fact, the very foundation of the state of Israel was based on the ethnic cleansing of over 750,000 indigenous Palestinians in the Nakba (‘Catastrophe,’ in Arabic) in 1948 that paved the way for the unilateral declaration of independence at the end of the British League of Nations Mandate in Palestine. And ‘apartheid’ and ‘genocide’ are both defined in international law, apartheid in the 1973 International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid as well as in the 2002 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and genocide in the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide; under the terms of these legally binding and universally accepted international statutes and conventions, Israel is guilty of both the crime of apartheid in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Launching of the meeting of the Second General Assembly of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad by Sulaiman Abu Sitta

the disaster West Bank and besieged Gaza is the only part of Palestine that has been raising the flag of Palestine over the years. Today it is the symbol of Palestine and the resistance and its elimination is the elimination of the features of the Palestinian cause, and today there are many murderers and enemies. Noting that the slow genocide in Gaza prompts them to say that the bread is our demand, and our people in the 48 are going through a comprehensive renaissance because the new generations realized that the identity of the truth is Palestinian and cannot coexist at all with the occupation.
… Abu Sitta called on the conference to formulate a formal legal letter in English and to present it to all the countries and embassies of the world that we, the people of Palestine, refuse to be annihilated legally, effectively, and symbolically, and I call on all States to speak out.

The massacre in Gaza and imperialist war policy by Andre Damon

May 14, 2018, the day the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out the systematic massacre of over 60 unarmed men, women, and children, will live in infamy. For hours on end, Israeli forces fired thousands of rounds of live ammunition at unarmed Palestinian demonstrators, injuring more than 3,000 people and killing eight children, the youngest of whom was just eight months old.
… Within the Israeli political establishment, the massacre has prompted not horrified self-reflection and inquiries into how a state supposedly founded in response to the Holocaust could carry out actions worthy of the Nazis, but rather the open language of genocide.

An Oral History of the Palestinian Nakba: Introduction by Nahla Abdo and Nur Masalha

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

This collective work uses oral history, personal memories, narratives and interviews to study, analyse and represent the Palestinian Nakba/ genocide, before, during and after the establishment of the Israeli settler-colonial state in 1948. The multiplicity of disciplines and approaches presented in this book cover the complexity, and poignancy, of the Palestinian Nakba, reproducing in the process its historical and lived implications in a new light. Almost all authors in this volume attest to the resilience of the Nakba as experience and memory and its rootedness in the existential life of Palestinians. This rootedness defies all Israeli and international efforts at silencing the Nakba for the past seventy years. All authors in this book see the Nakba as a process and not as an event. Still, the memories and narratives of the specific calamities and horror inflicted on the Palestinians during the months of the establishment of the state of Israel have carved and continue to carve a deep space in the memory of those who lived it and the generations that followed.

Of course illegal occupation and annexation predates Trump. Throughout Israel’s 70-year occupation of Jerusalem, Israel adopted a series of policies and measures to change its religious and demographic character. The consequences have been described as a form of cultural genocide and ethnic cleansing.

Israel’s legacy of terror and ethnic cleansing by Ramzy Baroud

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Zionist colonisation in Palestine began in earnest in 1881, when the leaders of the Zionist Movement in Europe eyed Arab Palestine as an exclusive home for Jews, paying little heed to the indigenous inhabitants of the land. These early ambitions culminated to a bloody, and well-orchestrated terror campaign in 1947-48, resulting in the creation of the state of Israel atop the ruins of the Palestinian homeland.
This violent legacy continues to define the state of Israel to this day, through the use of what Israeli historian Ilan Pappe describe as “incremental genocide”.
Since then, little has changed except for names and titles. Zionist militias that orchestrated the genocide of Palestinians prior to the establishment of Israel merged together to form the Israeli army; and the leaders of these groups became Israel’s leaders.

I am inspired by the thousands of Palestinian prisoners and all those incarcerated everywhere who demands, need and deserve to be free.I am inspired by all communities who struggle to free the land, to have clear water, to protect the environment and the bones of our ancestors and live in a world free of colonial borders, police and military brutality, and genocide.
