… in 1937 at the Peel Commission, Churchill stated that the Balfour Declaration would make Palestine an overwhelmingly Jewish stated. Essentially advocating the genocide and forced migration of the Palestinian people… Since the declaration of independence, 70 years on the Israeli government continue their campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people and there are more than 5 million Palestinian refugees living in camps across Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Jordan, and in Syria.

UK joining Israel in celebrations is shameful by Tariq A. Al Maeena

Last Thursday, the UK Prime Minister Theresa May was doling out compliment after another to the Israeli delegation attending the event to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, a move that displaced Palestinians from their own lands and made way for European Jews to occupy Arab lands. Speaking at a dinner function, May said that Britain is ‘proud of our pioneering role in the creation of the state of Israel’ adding that she was proud ‘of the relationship we have built with Israel.’

… More than 3,500 civilians had lost their lives, a sizeable portion of whom were women and children. Some 17,000 Gazans were injured and more than 100,000 left homeless. Michael Ratner of the Centre for Constitutional Rights aptly termed Israel’s planned ethnic cleansing and massacres of Palestinians “incremental genocide.” And their retribution for the crime against them? The perpetrators of the genocide get felicitated at a dinner reception hosted by no less than the UK prime minister in recognition of their fine efforts, while their victims slide into anonymity.

Balfour document led to ‘century of genocide’: Diplomat on Yeni Şafak

Palestinian Ambassador to Turkey Faed Mustafa said Wednesday that Palestine’s “great tragedy” had begun with the 1917 Balfour Declaration, in which Britain signaled its support for “a homeland for the Jewish people” in Palestine.

At a press briefing held at the Palestinian embassy in Ankara, Mustafa blamed the fateful document for “100 years of genocide”.

100th Anniversary Of Australian Beersheba Charge, UK Balfour Declaration & Palestinian Genocide Commencement by Dr Gideon Polya

Below are presented details of this week’s 100th Anniversary of  the WW1 Australian Beersheba Charge, the UK Balfour Declaration and the commencement of the  Palestinian Genocide in 1917.

  1.  31 October 1917 Australian Beersheba Charge, British Empire conquest of Palestine and Palestinian Famine.

This week variously ignorant or mendacious Australian jingoists are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the famous charge of the Australian 4th Light Horse Brigade of the Anzac (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Mounted Division on 31 October 1917 that captured Beersheba and thus fatally compromised the Ottoman Turkish defensive line stretching from Beersheba to Gaza on the Mediterranean coast. Palestine and thence Syria rapidly fell to the British under General Allenby [32]. While this was a famous cavalry charge that is much celebrated in mindlessly racist and jingoist Australia, the immediate consequences for the Palestinians were devastating. War-imposed deprivation in Palestine under the genocidal British was associated with  a Palestinian Famine in which 100,000 Palestinian died as estimated from a catastrophic 100,000 population deficit in WW1 Palestine [33-36].

… The presentations that follow will explore the similarities in violence used against African Americans, Native Americans, Jews, Muslims, Palestinians, Armenians and other groups victimized by colonialism, apartheid, genocide, and ethnic cleansing. The means and methods of resistance will be reviewed as responses to the oppressions. Impetus for this conference is a commemoration of 100 years of resistance to the 1917 Balfour Declaration beginning the settler-colonial project on Palestinian land.

On the occasion of this entirely justified demand by Palestine, I’ll share a couple of my posts that delve into the significance of that declaration, which led to settler-colonialism in the British Mandate of Palestine and to the current Apartheid state in Israel-Palestine and the statelessness and oppression at the hands of Israelis of millions of Palestinians. This extended colonialism is unparalleled in the whole world: no other colonial power now existing is keeping millions stateless and without the right to have rights.
