Palestine and the ‘Deal of the Century’ by Robert Fantina

In the past, both Democratic and Republican elected officials in the U.S. marched lock-step in their servile bowing to Israel, supporting ever-increasing aid and praising its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, war crimes and crimes against humanity notwithstanding. Members of the Democratic Party are still nauseatingly pro-Israel, but, as indicated above, their complete and unqualified support for that apartheid state is a thing of the past. And a recent survey indicates that, among younger Republicans, support for Israel is quickly dwindling.

Trump, of course, laid the groundwork for this ‘deal’, underestimating, as U.S. presidents have done since 1947, the resiliency and determination of the Palestinian people. He has supported all of Israel’s genocidal actions, and has cut aid to United Nations agencies responsible for helping the Palestinians, thus making things more desperate in an already catastrophic situation. He seems to expect that the Palestinians will surrender their identity, their homeland, their aspirations and dreams, and disregard the sacrifices made by their ancestors, and accept whatever bone apartheid Israel and its racist financier, the U.S., decides to toss them.

The Facade of Israel is Cracking by Robert Fantina

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.
For many more years than any intelligent person would want to count, Israel was the sacred cow of the United States. From its violent, bloody, genocidal inception that involved the ethnic cleansing of at least 750,000 Palestinians, and the murder of another 10,000, right through to the illegal, immoral occupation of the West Bank and blockade (aka occupation) of the Gaza Strip, Israel, in the view of U.S. governance and politics, could do no wrong…

The Great Bernie Debate by Robert Fantina

Please make a donation at our Indiegogo fundraising campaign.

When discussing U.S. political campaigns, it is difficult not to mention the old tale of the ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’, and Mr. Sanders and his campaign certainly invoke such thoughts in this writer. In the fable, it was said that the Emperor is wearing magnificent clothes, but that only his intelligent subjects could see them. One can also say that Mr. Sanders is a progressive socialist, fighting for the poor and the working class, opposing the status quo and wanting to usher in a brand new world, but that sadly, only his fellow-progressives recognize his greatness. But his greatness, like the emperor’s clothes, simply doesn’t exist. Support for the military, defending Israeli genocide of the Palestinians, reducing the rights of the U.S. citizenry are not the hallmarks of a progressive socialist. They are, instead, the characteristics of a common U.S. politician. No amount of pretty words can camouflage that fact.

The Great Divide: Netanyahu and Reality by Robert Fantina

In a sense, Mr. Netanyahu does make a point: Israel today symbolizes injustice, genocide, cruelty and barbarism, and is the face of apartheid. So, in part, it is what Israel has come to symbolize that motivates people to boycott it.

Becoming a Global Pariah Israel on the Run by Robert Fantina

What a difference a few years, social media, and well-publicized genocide make! Another stark difference can be seen in two examples on U.S. university campuses… So it does seem as if time is running out. Israel may be able to avoid sanctions from FIFA, the ICC and the U.N. this year, but that nation is becoming the global pariah, shunned for its atrocious human rights violations in Palestine and within Israel itself, where there are separate laws for Israelis, different than those for Africans or Arabs. With U.S. backing, Israel became a world power, and it is now in decline, and so very dangerous. Palestinian suffering will increase in the short-term, but inevitably, Palestine will be free.

Diversion and Denial: Anti-Israel and the Myth of Anti-Semitism by Robert Fantina

During last summer’s genocidal onslaught by Israel against Palestine, university Professor Steven Salaita tweeted his displeasure and disapproval of that mass murder. He had been offered a tenured position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and he and his wife had both resigned their positions, and sold their house in anticipation of the move to Illinois. However, at the last minute, the offer from the university was rescinded, due to those very tweets. By criticizing Israel, he was accused of being anti-Semitic… Accusing people who support the BDS movement of being anti-Semitic has become all the rage in Zionist circles.

Israel, Palestine and ‘Greenwashing’ by Robert Fantina

In the past few decades, at least 280,000 olive trees have been intentionally destroyed in Palestine by Israel; an estimated 250,000,000 pine trees have been planted, some financed by well-meaning but uninformed people, but most by the Israeli government. It is likely that most of the people around the world who have sent money to have them planted are unaware of their real purpose; who is going to think of genocide, when planting a tree in memory of a loved one?

Three U.S. Lies About Israel and Palestine by Robert Fantina

For decades United States’ spokespeople, from presidents to members of Congress, have, with a straight face, told the most far-fetched lies about Israel and Palestine. Such things as Israel having a moral army, despite its ongoing genocide of men, women and children, or proclaiming it the only democracy in the Middle East, regardless of the institutional racism so prevalent there, have been staples of U.S. proclamations and news conferences.

Is Time Running Out for Israel? Netanyahu in a Panic by Robert Fantina

What has caused this change? Where did Mr. Netanyahu finally misstep? Why are so many countries, once timid in any criticism of Israel, now appearing ready to recognize Palestine? While it has been a long time coming, as indicated by the increased success of the BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanction) movement, one can argue that this past summer’s unspeakably cruel and barbaric bombardment and invasion of the Gaza Strip, coupled with the increased violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, combined to be Mr. Netanyahu’s undoing. Graphic photos of hospitals, mosques, homes and U.N. refugee centers being bombed, and of children and adults being shot by snipers, may have finally proved to be more than most of the world was willing to tolerate. Articles in U.S. newspapers by Israeli writers endorsing the genocide of the Palestinian people also seem too much for most people to bear.
