The Israeli Knesset just voted to dissolve itself, but this won’t end the Gaza genocide by Qassam Muaddi

Both Lapid and Bennett, and most other opposition figures, have supported the war on Gaza, including actions that human rights organizations have characterized as genocidal. The Israeli opposition has also backed the war on Lebanon and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank — and has, in fact, harshly criticized Netanyahu for allowing the U.S. to constraint Israeli action in Lebanon and Iran. Whatever government emerges from the next election will almost certainly be composed of parties that support those same policies, with or without Netanyahu and his closest allies.

How Israel’s war on Iran saved the “West” from its own humanity by Qassam Muaddi

The global rejection of the genocide in Gaza had begun to carve its way into political decision-making circles in the “West,” where Israel has always received its impunity. Five countries — the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Norway — imposed sanctions on Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli ministers most explicit in their genocidal intent. Spain had announced the suspension of arms sales to Israel, and France was preparing for an international conference to recognize Palestine as part of the two-state solution. None of this alleviated the agony of Palestinian children in Gaza. But it indicated that the world had begun to see Palestinian suffering. 

Then Israel attacked Iran.

‘Psychologically tortured to the last minute’: Ahmad Manasra, arrested at 13, is finally free after a decade in Israeli prison by Qassam Muaddi

Israeli authorities released Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Manasra, 23, on Thursday after spending ten years in Israeli prison. Imprisoned at the age of 13, Manasra’s case drew international attention due to “legal inconsistencies in his trial, the deterioration of his psychological condition as a result of his cruel arrest and treatment in prison, and denying him treatment,” his lawyer, Ahmad Zabarqa, told Mondoweiss.

… The way the court handled Ahmad’s sentencing then formed a precedent for how Israeli courts would deal with Palestinian minors generally. “It was the first case of its kind,” Zabarqa pointed, “but later, Israeli courts practiced the same tactic of postponing the ruling and sentencing of minors according to their age in multiple cases — and they were always cases against Palestinian minors.”

… In April 2022, a short Palestinian film featured the case of Ahmad Manasra as an example of the 105,000 “empty places” left behind by Palestine’s prisoners and martyrs. After Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza, the pre-October 7 prison population nearly doubled.

Four reasons why Israel’s ethnic cleansing of the West Bank is being accepted by the world by Qassam Muaddi

For the longest time, that world was ignorant of the nature of Israel’s settler colonial project, as international public opinion was shielded from the reality imposed on the Palestinian people. An entire generation grew up in this world after the Nakba, yet knew very little of it or about Palestine. It, too, was sold on the universal values of the liberal world order.

But the Gaza genocide changed everything, breaking down the wall of obfuscation and exposing Israel as a pariah state.

Most of the realities described above might today seem familiar to readers. They weren’t twenty years ago. Just as the mass expulsion of Jenin and Tulkarem and Jabalia and Beit Hanoun was unimaginable before October 2023, the global reaction by regular people was equally unprecedented. Global ignorance has been a key component of Israel’s impunity, and that impunity is now under assault.

The genocide in Israeli prisons by Qassam Muaddi

  1. Israel’s genocidal war on Palestinians since last October has extended beyond the daily mass death, displacement, and starvation of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. Behind the bars of Israeli prisons, Israel has been waging war against Palestinian prisoners, creating conditions that make the continuation of human life impossible. The effects of this brutal campaign have reverberated among prisoners’ families outside of jail, who are watching their loved ones being systematically starved, beaten, tortured, and degraded.
  3. … Other depravities have been documented in several other prisons, often gloatingly by Israeli news channels who broadcast scenes of the abuse, including degrading treatment, in what can only be described as snuff films. Israeli prison doctors have assisted in the torture of Palestinian detainees, both before and after October 7. Alongside these acts of torture and humiliation, prison authorities have severely restricted prisoners’ food intake to the point of near-starvation, giving 20 prisoners enough food for two people. 
  5. The picture that emerges is one in which Israeli authorities are putting Palestinians in animal-like conditions calculated to torture, humiliate, and in man cases, to bring about their death.
