Israel committed genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip during its 2014 offensive, Mayor of the Hungarian Municipality of Erpatak, Mihaly Zoltan Orosz, said on Monday.

… The Hungarian Public Prosecution filed a complaint against Orosz, accusing him of “inciting hatred and hostility” after organising a demonstration against the Israeli offensive on Gaza in 2014. Speaking during the hearing, Orosz said that he would not rescind his remarks about the Israeli genocide. The Judge adjourned the hearing to 12 June.

Three decades later, in the wake of the incalculable devastation caused by Israel’s latest assault on Gaza, solidarity with Palestine appears stronger than ever. In every corner of the United States, people took to the streets and to social media to condemn so-called “Operation Protective Edge,” Israel’s latest genocidal assault on Gaza.

One year after Operation Protective Edge by Avisekh Konar

Every child in Gaza, seven years or younger, has, in their little lifetime, seen three of the most murderous atrocities committed by Israel. Israel calls this periodic assault of Gaza “mowing the grass” — a chilling phrase which typifies the systematic dehumanisation of the Palestinian people, necessary for the acquiescence and approval of the Israeli population for the genocidal campaigns of their government.

Tomgram: The Next Gaza War by Max Blumenthal

In the aftermath of Protective Edge’s massive destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza, the Israeli government set out to obstruct any reconstruction process and extend the suffering of Gaza’s civilian population. When diplomats including American Secretary of State John Kerry gathered in Cairo last October to discuss repairing and rebuilding some of the $7 billion in damage caused by Protective Edge, then-Israeli Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz assured them that their efforts were ultimately futile. “The Gazans must decide what they want to be: Singapore or Darfur,” Katz said, ominously invoking the threat of Sudanese-style genocide. “If one missile will be fired, everything will go down the drain.” The nature of his warning was not lost on the diplomats in Cairo, where one complained of “considerable donor fatigue.”

“No one can expect us to go back to our taxpayers for a third time; to ask for contributions for reconstruction and then we simply go back to where we were before all this began,” a diplomat complained to a reporter. Another conceded: “There isn’t a terrible amount of political commitment or hope.”

Renewed threats against Gaza under the guise of Israeli patriotism by Ramona Wadi

Operation Protective Edge, which was also in ways endorsed by the Palestinian Authority through its remarks that ridiculed Palestinian resistance against Israeli aggression, was another attempt at reducing population and territory through massacres and displacement, thus ensuring that while half-hearted attempts by international organisations such as the UNHRC would suggest war crimes as a possibility, Israel would remain safely ensconced, away from the parameters that define genocide within international law’s interpretation.

Additionally, threats against Palestinians in Gaza have once again emanated from former MK Dr Michael Ben-Ari. According to Israel National News, refusal on behalf of Hamas to cooperate in returning the bodies of two complicit soldiers, who Ben-Ari defines as “saints”, Israel should seek retribution.

“If they want to live let them return the bodies of the warriors. There is no reason that we should be ‘responsible’. This is the time to go crazy and to show IDF soldiers and their families that they are the dearest thing to us,” declared Ben-Ari.

PM Modi Visit To Israel: ‘Sky Is The Limit’ by Seema Mustafa

Reports suggest that India bought $662 million worth of arms from Israel during the first six months after PM Modi came to power, and that experts point out is more than the total value of Israel’s defence exports to India in the last three years… just after Israel started its Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, that drew worldwide condemnation, the Indian Foreign Office issued a statement against the loss of civilian life in Gaza but compensating this with concern over “cross border provocations resulting from rocket attacks” that was the Israeli justification for the attack that was described as ‘genocide’ even in sections of the western media.

The government blocked and rejected a parliamentary resolution moved by the Opposition to condemn the Israeli attack on the Palestinians. In the midst of all this political heat there was PM Modi tweeting Hanukah greetings in Hebrew, and congratulating Netanyahu “my friend Bibi” on his re-election.

People’s tribunals, and the roots of civil society justice by Richard Falk

Most recently, in September 2014, in response to the Israeli attack on Gaza, given the name Operation Protective Edge, the Russell Foundation convened an event in Brussels in which a jury of conscience listened to evidence, and particularly considered charges of ‘genocide’ put forward by critics of the attack…

It should also be observed that the Brussels Tribunal failed to uphold the most serious charge leveled against Israel in relation to Protective Edge, that the massive assault carried out against the defenseless civilian population of Gaza constituted genocide. On the basis of the evidence presented, the jury in Brussels did agree that Israel was guilty of the lesser crime of ‘Incitement to Genocide’ as set forth in Article 3(c) of the Genocide Convention.  It also agreed that the additional treaty duty to prevent genocide had been definitely violated by Israeli behavior during Protective Edge…

Israel’s Gaza Genocide Redux by Professor Francis A. Boyle

I delivered the following Oral Argument before the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal Commission for the Indictment of Israel for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity on November 21, 2012 during Israel’s genocidal Operation Cast Lead II against the 1.7 million Palestinians living in Gaza. “Open a criminal investigation against Israel for their war crimes and do not let the murder of over 2000 people go in vain, as well as the silent holocaust that Palestinians are facing since the illegal creation of Israel.”

2 December, 2014

Madame/Sir,

I am writing to you, very disturbed that the UN was created to govern nations of occupying other nations illegally. For 66 years, Israel has committed from single war crimes atrocities to massive massacres since it has been illegally created as a state.

From previous attacks on a civilian population of Palestinians, unarmed, and helpless, from Gaza To The Westbank, Israel has gotten away with acts of war crimes, most recent “Operation Protective Edge”…evidence has been proven the bombing campaign that Israel claimed it did to “defend itself” and destroy tunnels is absurd when UN officials, UNICEF employees and Amnesty have repeatedly told UN that Israel has attacked schools, shelters and hospitals, including arresting and detaining children under the age of 11, wrote reports of the torture and sexual assaults on these children held in Israel prison.

Why isn’t Israel held accountable for breaking these resolutions set forth? Thus far it has repeatedly broken 65 and have not faced repercussions or sancations. Yet any nation that has broken just ONE seems to be held accountable.

We demand an investigation, not only for Israel bombing of Gaza in 2014, but the attacks before. The illegal use of white sulfur on the population of Gaza that many people working with the UN have seen with their own eyes, seen snipers with their own eyes target Palestinians, seen the beating and torture of Palestinians, seen illegal settlers kidnap, beat, kill, run over Palestinians and yet we ask why Palestinians retaliate.

By UN Resolutions, we the Palestinians under illegal occupation have the RIGHT and LAW to resistance occupation.

Asking you again to open a criminal investigation against Israel for their war crimes and do not let the murder of over 2000 people in 2014 in 50 days murders go in vain, as well as the silent holocaust that Palestinians are facing since the illegal creation of Israel.

Thank you.
