“So 1948 for my dad and his family, it wasn’t good. Whether you call it ethnic cleansing, whether you call it colonialism, whether you call it genocide. Cultural, social genocide. There is recent research that calls it genocide. You don’t have to just kill the physical body. The holocaust genocide experience is really enlightening. Te limitation is that people start thinking that when you say genocide you just start thinking of bodies physically dying, but you can kill a whole lot of people through culture. It’s called “kill the indian but save the child.”
