On August 9, a few hundred protesters and several organizations held a rally to raise awareness about the continued onslaught on the Palestinian people by the Zionist Israeli government.
The event was hosted by the Chicago Coalition for Justice in Palestine, which included the U.S. Palestinian Community Network and Students for Justice in Palestine…. One speaker noted that of the two million or more people who reside in Gaza, nearly 60% are children. According to Al Mayadeen, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the death toll of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation forces in 2022 rose to 129, including at least 34 children. Fifteen or more children were added to this total in the past week as a result of the genocidal attacks on Palestinian cities.

More recently, U.S. lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have showcased their bipartisan hypocrisy through their selective outrage at attacks on civilians in the Ukraine. While Washington cannot bring itself to condemn Israeli apartheid, nor its violent eviction of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah and murder of innocent children, it is quick to highlight the plight of Ukrainian civilians under Russian bombardment and to place sanctions on Russia. Pelosi, for example, was quick to call out Russian President Vadimir Putin’s “attack on democracy” and “violation of international law, global peace and security” all while whitewashing Israeli genocide.

On Thursday, the Biden administration began its virtual “Summit for Democracy,” an event mocked around the world as an exercise in utter hypocrisy. Eighty world leaders attended a video conference to discuss so-called democratic backsliding, a “democracy recession,” and threats to democracy from “authoritarian powers.” The whole conference is nothing more than a tool to attack on ideological grounds the governments of countries that refuse to follow the dictates of Washington, and mask U.S. aggression as concern for democracy.
In reality, the United States allies itself with some of the most repressive countries in the world. Israel, an attendee at the Summit for Democracy, is committing genocide against the Palestinian people and enforces a brutal system of apartheid rule.

A July 27 demonstration called by Al-Awda and the NY4Palestine Coalition outside the Long Island home of Fauci (who is a U.S. citizen) and the office of New York State Attorney General Letitia James also demanded the revocation of 501(c)(3) status for groups which back settler-led genocide in Palestine.

Noting that Biden and Bennett were meeting to solidify their ties, she said: “It is further proof — as if more is needed — that the peace process has always and will continue to be a sham. It is evidence that we as Palestinians were never meant to have a say in our future, but are instead expected to take some sort of deal handed to us from above … When we resist as a people, Biden’s response is to invite our oppressor into his home. He claims progressive values, but what is progressive about genocide? After the Zionist regime dropped bombs on Gaza for 11 days straight, Biden sent an extra $735 million in weapons from Boeing to the Zionist regime.”
Marching in a broad circle around the White House grounds, the protesters chanted, “Bennett, Bennet you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide!”

The whole world recoiled at the May media footage of racist Israeli settlers threatening to kill and beating up Palestinian people in order to steal their homes in the Sheik Jarrah and Silwan neighborhoods of East Jerusalem. The press, however, did not point out many of these arch-racist settlers are actually Americans with dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship, whose real “home” is Long Island. Nor was it explained that the U.S. and state governments are complicit in these crimes because they allow, and even give tax exempt status to organizations which mobilize these home-grown racists for ethnic cleansing and genocide in occupied Palestine.

On May 23, hundreds gathered in Garden City, Long Island, New York for a day of action in support of the Palestinian people, organized by a broad coalition… The day of solidarity took place just two days after a ceasefire temporarily halted Israeli aerial bombardments on the besieged Gaza Strip. Over 250 people were killed by Israel’s airstrikes in 11 days, including 66 children, and 2,000 were wounded… A key demand of the day of action was that the U.S. government end its military aid to Israel. “As United States citizens we cannot allow our taxpayer money to be used to fund genocide,” said Tela Trogue of the Shinnecock Nation, the Indigenous nation of eastern Long Island.

Dr. Ahlam Muhtaseb, an attendee of the rally, the director of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at CSU San Bernardino, and co-director/executive producer of “1948: Creation & Catastrophe,” was unsurprised by the announcement of what she and Al-Awda Coalition called the “Joke of the Century.” Muhtaseb explained to Liberation News:
“I mean it was nothing out of what we expected from the alliance of Trump and Netanyahu. It just confirmed what we knew already: a continuation of land appropriation and theft, continuous genocide against the Palestinians in the form of more settlements and endorsement of settlements, more chunking of Palestinian land, where there is no room for a ‘Palestinian state,’ as they claim. Other problems with the plan are that it denies the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their ancestral homeland, it allows for more land grab, and it totally erases Palestinian existence as a negotiator, as a part of whatever kind of peace deal that has to be made.”

David Ben-Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel, referring to the displaced Palestine people in 1949, said, “The old will die and the young will forget.” For over 70 years, the Palestinian people have resisted the Zionist occupation of Palestine, the forced displacement from their homeland, living under military rule, administrative detention, and genocidal policies of collective punishment and blockade. The old have passed on the history of the Palestinian people and the young have learned, remembered and continued the fight for self-determination.

More than a thousand people rallied and marched through the streets of San Francisco December 9 in solidarity with Palestine and the struggle for self-determination, all in the wake of Trump’s bald declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Chants echoed throughout Civic Center: “There is only one solution: intifada, revolution!” and “Netanyahu you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide!”
