Committee to Protect Journalists Reinforces False Narrative About Palestinians by Tareq S. Hajjaj

At a moment when Gaza’s journalists urgently need international protection and the solidarity of journalists and press freedom organizations worldwide — for their courage, their commitment, and their decision to remain in Gaza, sometimes sacrificing their lives to document the suffering of a population that has endured genocide for the past three years — the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has released a statement stating that some Gaza-based journalists will be removed from international protection lists because of alleged affiliations with military wings of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Arrest warrant sought for Israeli president on visit to UK by Imran Mulla

An arrest warrant is being sought for Israeli President Isaac Herzog ahead of his planned trip to London this week.

The president is expected to arrive on Wednesday and meet ministers and senior political figures, although his itinerary has not been confirmed. 

News of the visit has sparked outrage since the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is wanted for alleged war crimes by the International Criminal Court and Herzog himself has backed the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Pro-Palestine campaign group Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) has instructed a legal team to apply for an arrest warrant to be issued for Herzog on “charges of aiding, abetting or procuring direct and indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian objects”.

… The moves comes after the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) wrote to Scotland Yard’s war crimes unit on Monday, “demanding that the Israeli president is investigated upon his arrival in the UK, on suspicion of bearing criminal liability for alleged war crimes”.

According to the ICJP, even if Herzog is given diplomatic immunity, Scotland Yard could still interview and investigate him “in compliance with the UK’s international and domestic obligations”.

Criminal Complaint Alleging UK Government Ministers’ Complicity in War Crimes made to Scotland Yard by Centre of Justice for Palestinians

  • London, 16th January 2024- The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) have handed evidence to Scotland Yard in relation to alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza under applicable UK legislation.
  • A meeting between ICJP and Scotland Yard took place confidentially at the end of last week and saw ICJP’s Investigation Unit hand over hard drives and evidence dossiers to Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Unit (SO15). The information was given to SO15 in response to the Metropolitan Police’s request for evidence of war crimes in Israel and Gaza.
  • In the dossier, evidence was provided in relation to senior UK politicians, including government ministers, as well as Israeli ministers and private British individuals.

Foreign Office notified of ‘serious risk of genocide’ in Gaza by International Centre of Justice for Palestinians by ICJPalestine

London, 22nd November 2023 – The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has written to the Foreign Secretary putting the UK government on notice that there is now a serious risk of genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza. ICJP are also concerned that British citizens, including those with dual nationalities, are fighting as part of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) and therefore are at risk of participating in war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of genocide.
