Ben Gvir: Give Every Jew a Gun by Richard Silverstein

The ranks of Israeli politicians are replete with those advocating ethnic cleansing, apartheid and even genocide. As I’ve written here, a Likud MK called for building death camps for “Arabs.”  The leading candidate to run the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum, Effi Eitam, has said of Palestinian MKs:

“The day will come when we will expel you [to Gaza]”

“We should expel the vast majority of Arabs from Judea and Samaria, we can’t have all these Arabs…”

Regarding Lebanon, he said: “Simply slaughter Civilians? Yes, that is the equation.  It’s cold, it’s cruel. But that is it.”

I suppose there could be no better candidate for a museum commemorating Nazi genocide than someone who advocates genocide.  Every time someone hears him talk about the Holocaust. they will be reminded of his own genocidal rhetoric.  Seriously, it is a grave insult to the 6-million to appoint a former IDF general, a cruel, vicious brute to safeguard their memory.  But that is par for the course for this state birthed in the crucible of Nakba and continuing it to this day.

… Genocide does not happen suddenly. It evolves from lesser crimes and gradually grows into a monstrous hate capable of exterminating tens of thousands or millions, depending on circumstances.  For this reason, I’m not satisfied with the word ‘apartheid’ alone.  While it is an accurate portrait of current reality, it is not sufficient. As I’ve written, we must speak about genocide.  Its most extreme form is the extermination of the people.  But genocide also encompasses incitement to genocide; attempts to erase culture, language and traditions. These are all genocide.  Israel qualifies on all these counts.  It assaults Palestinian NGOs, destroys thousands of homes, steals land, demolishes schools, bombs universities, power plants and sewage treatment facilities.  All this is genocide.  That it has not yet exterminated tens or hundreds of thousands is no comfort.  That may yet come, considering the venomous hatred of the Judeo-Nazis above.  In the meantime, genocide remains a potent and accurate term.

Israeli minister publicly declares safety of Jews more important than that of Arabs on The Cradle

Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, on 23 August declared that upholding Jewish families’ safety and freedom of movement is “more important” than doing the same for the country’s Arab population.

“My right, and my wife’s and my children’s right, to get around on the roads [of the occupied West Bank] is more important than the right to movement for Arabs,” the Jewish supremacist minister said during a televised interview on Channel 12. “Sorry Mohammad,” he said to journalist Mohammad Magadli, who was arguing with him, “but that’s the reality. That’s the truth. My right to life comes before their right to movement.”

“For the first time, an Israeli minister admits on air that Israel enforces an apartheid regime based on Jewish supremacy,” Arab lawmaker Ahmad Tibi of the Hadash-Taal party said on social media following Ben Gvir’s tirade.

The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court defines apartheid — which is a direct symptom of military occupation — as a crime against humanity, characterized by the commission of “inhumane acts,” such as unlawful killing, torture, and forcible transfer, which are committed to maintaining an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over another.

Major human rights groups and UN officials have accused Tel Aviv of perpetuating such a system against Palestinians on top of the military occupation of their land and a decades-long campaign of genocide.

From Sarajevo to Jerusalem: Why Israel Should Fear the Precedent of Wartime Bosnia by Rebecca Bardach

I became increasingly aware of signs of growing extremism about ten years ago: rabbis and mayors calling upon people not to rent to Arabs, demands to exclude women from public spaces like buses and billboards. The phenomena of “price tag” anti-Arab hate crimes with their “Death to Arabs” graffiti, and the politicians manipulating ethnic fears and grievances to win power.

I knew all too well from my Bosnian friends, and from work with refugees from other conflicts, where such rhetoric and actions could take us.

24 Democratic Congress members visit Israel, give unconditional support to the apartheid regime by Sameena Rahman

Twenty-four U.S. Democratic Party congress members visited Israel this week and gave unconditional support to the ultra-reactionary Netanyahu government, whose genocidal policies towards Palestinians have reached new heights.

… This blatant tone-deafness from the Democrats is hardly surprising as they continue to ignore the widespread repression and violation of Palestinians human rights. Just this year alone, multiple Palestinian communities have faced repeated assault by the Israeli Defense Forces despite international condemnation. On Aug. 6, Zionist settlers who murdered three Palestinian children were hailed as heroes by Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Such crimes and incitements of genocide by high Israeli officials was ignored, with the Democrats’ blanket endorsement and legitimizing the racist state.

… The Biden administration has thus far only offered mild admonishment with no teeth to force Israel to uphold any semblance of democracy for Palestinians as it spirals further into a fascistic state. The Democrats delegation’s uncritical visit is a green light for Israel’s racist crimes to continue with impunity, and puts the Democratic Party fully in league with the likes of Netanyahu, Beh-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a self-described “fascist homophobe” and promoter of genocide.

Ex-Israeli General Says Army Partner in West Bank War Crimes, Invokes Nazi Germany on Ha’aretz

Speaking to Israel’s public broadcasting station Kan, Amiram Levin, former head of the Israeli army’s Northern Command, said that “there hasn’t been a democracy there in 57 years, there is total apartheid.” According to Levin, “the IDF, which is forced to exert sovereignty there, is rotting from the inside. It’s standing by, looking at the settler rioters and is beginning to be a partner to war crimes. These are deep processes.” When asked to elaborate on the specific “processes,” Levin invoked Nazi Germany. “It’s hard for us to say it, but it’s the truth. Walk around Hebron, look at the streets. Streets where Arabs are no longer allowed to go on, only Jews. That’s exactly what happened there, in that dark country.”

Irredentism and the Palestinian Crisis An Unwanted Rematch by Dan Lieberman

Elements of Settler Colonialism appear in the Middle East crisis and these elements have been fitted together to obtain the accepted definition. The term is ominous; previous Settler Colonialism operations ended by either indigenous people regaining lands and dignity, as in the African nations, or evolving into the destruction of native people, as occurred in the Americas. Under Settler Colonialism, the fate of the Palestinian people leans heavily in the direction of destruction.

Senate releases letter of support for Palestinian students on The South End

Wayne State’s Student Senate released a letter of support for Palestinian students on Tuesday, after sending the statement to a committee for revisions in July… [The] Senate condemned the attacks against Palestinians by the Isreali government, using footnotes to attribute the words “genocide” and “apartheid,”

… [student senator Zaynah] Jadallah said the majority of Senate’s discourse around the statement revolved around the terms used to reference the attacks.

“They were just afraid of using the word ‘genocide’ and then even ‘apartheid’ and ‘occupation’ but I explained to them… these two words have been used scholarly and worldwide (everywhere) from Amnesty International (to the) United Nations,” Jadallah said. “So it’s not like we’re the first people to accuse the Israeli occupation of these crimes.”

… Students for Justice in Palestine Co-President Aya Mohammad said the university could be doing more to support Palestinian students through this difficult time.

… “We want the WSU population to recognize the genocide of the Palestinian people by the Israeli apartheid government. The Palestinian people have been suffering from this ongoing genocide for more than 70 years, while the world is watching in silence, and our U.S. tax money is paying for the weapons being used.”

Israel: Chronicle of a Genocide Foretold by Richard Silverstein

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

Some find use of the term “genocide” regarding Israel’s treatment of Palestinians objectionable for various reasons.  But I’ve written here rebutting such claims. With the rise of Israel’s Judeo-fascist government and its terrorist senior ministers (Smotrich and Ben Gvir), it’s far past time for the world to not only acknowledge this genocidal reality, but to stop it before it’s too late.

We already see genocidal incitement both in words and deeds.  Seven Palestinian villages with over 500 residents have been expelled by settler violence.  Bezalel Smotrich called for “wiping out” the village of Huwara, after two settlers were killed nearby. A villager was murdered by a Judeo-terrorist. No one has been charged with any crime.

…Anyone who scoffs at the idea of genocide or a Final Solution should examine the history of countries which did such heinous acts.  The final act of extermination did not spring up ex nihilo.  It followed a slow, building process of demonization, harassment, and violence, which led up to it.  This is the stage in which Israel finds itself.

Australia Senator: Aboriginals, Palestinians share a reality of attempted genocide on Middle East Monitor

… the violent occupation of Palestine, the brutality of the colonial power that is Israel and their state-sanctioned murder of the Palestinians. Since the start of 2023, 160 lives have been taken, including 35 children. Three of these murders happened only four days ago. We know this grief, sorrow and anger, it binds First People and Palestinians together, we share a history and reality of attempted genocide and are both yet to experience liberation in self-determination, governance and sovereignty. We know how it feels to be on the end of a slow, pervasive violence which claims more and more lives as time goes on with no one blinking an eye. We know about apartheid. And we know about being occupied by a power incapable of recognising the truth. Unsurprisingly, colonial powers are brothers in blood and have a common problem with recognising sovereignty both at home and abroad.

8th Black July: Insurgent Media Unites Brazil and Palestine in Fight Against State Violence by Amanda Baroni Lopes

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

Thais Siqueira represented the Coalition of Media on its Brazil visit to Palestine earlier this year alongside Gizele Martins. She described forced evictionsneglect, and State violence as similarly present in both countries. She revealed that the same process playing out in the hyper-incarceration and genocide of Black youth in Brazil also plays out in Palestine with youth murdered and imprisoned by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Rather than defend, as their name claims, the IDF attackoccupy, and expropriate, and play a role in ethnic cleansing and demographic change in the region.

“During my five days there, I got to know these places, the homes of Bedouins who are being threatened with eviction in the Jordan Valley and the incarceration of Black youth from the periphery. A lot of men there have already been arrested, for various reasons. We, here in Brazil, still manage to guarantee some basic rights. In Palestine, this is not the case. Children as young as four or five are arrested! How did an already persecuted people come to persecute and exterminate another ethnic group in their territory? Does the act of defending oneself against these abuses by the Israeli people make Palestinians terrorists? If you are attacked, you need to defend yourself somehow! However, whoever can communicate holds the power… My time there brought me questions about how we can have effective attitudes in enhancing this communication to the world.”
