Gaza has made its choice: It will continue to resist by Haidar Eid

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Any ceasefire agreement that does not lead to the immediate lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and the reopening of the Rafah crossing, and all the other crossings in a manner that allows the inflow of fuel, medicine, and all other basic goods, and does not include provisions for ending what the Israeli occupation and apartheid – will not be accepted.
We will no longer allow Gaza to be severed from Palestine and the historical context behind the suffering of its people. This is not a “conflict”, as the Israelis like to present it, with a hostile armed group.
It is an occupation, launched by a settler-colonial power which seeks to ethnically cleanse an entire indigenous population in order to solidify and legitimise its colony. What is happening in Gaza is incremental genocide, not a “security operation”.

“The people of Gaza are fighting back against a slow-motion genocide”: Prof. Haidar Eid on Peoples Dispatch

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

“This is a slow motion genocide. So two million people, the population of Gaza, are denied freedom of movement… And I can go on and on telling you about the destruction of infrastructure and the difficulties we are facing on a daily basis here in Gaza.”

What Gaza Wants by Haidar Eid

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

We need to be more specific about our demands. We want civil society organizations worldwide to intensify the anti-Israel sanctions campaign to compel Israel to end to its aggression.

It has become crystal clear that the international conspiracy of silence towards the incremental genocide taking place against the 2 million civilians in Gaza indicates complicity in these war crimes.

Israel’s policies in Gaza are genocidal by Haidar Eid

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The 1948 Genocide Convention clearly states that one instance of genocide is “the deliberate infliction of conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of a people in whole or in part.” No matter whether this happens at a fast rate, or in “slow motion.” That is what has been done to Gaza since the imposition of the blockade by Israel, and the subsequent massacres which led to the death of more than 4000 Palestinians in three successive genocidal wars.

Contextualizing the Great March of Return by Haidar Eid

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

In the last 10 years, Israel has launched three massive genocidal wars of aggression on the occupied Gaza Strip, many of our civilians were massacred by its indiscriminate bombing, condemned by UN experts and leading human rights organizations as war crimes and “possible” crimes against humanity. These assaults left over 3,800 Palestinians dead, predominantly civilians, of whom hundreds were children. Another 15,000 Palestinians were injured. We, the 2 million Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, the overwhelming majority of whom are refugees who were violently expelled and dispossessed from our homes by Zionist forces in 1948, were subjected to three weeks (2009), 2 weeks (2012) and 51 days (2014) of relentless Israeli state terror, whereby Israeli warplanes systematically targeted civilian areas, reduced whole neighborhoods and vital civilian infrastructure to rubble and destroyed scores of schools, including several run by UNRWA, where civilians were taking shelter. This came after years of an ongoing, crippling, deadly medieval Israeli siege of Gaza, a severe form of collective punishment described by Richrad Falk, former UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights as “a prelude to genocide.”

What next for Gaza after Israel’s Land Day massacre? by Haidar Eid

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

After imposing a deadly blockade on the two million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip for 11 years and launching three massive, genocidal attacks in the last seven years – aided by the complicity of the so-called international community and the silence of reactionary Arab regimes – last week, Israel has committed a new massacre against peaceful demonstrators commemorating Land Day and asserting their right of return.

On Gaza and the Siege: Why Is This Allowed to Happen on alResalah

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Decades of demonizing Palestinians, in general, and Gazans, in particular, have led to their dehumanization and to the proliferation of stereotypes and sweeping generalizations about them such as: “they are weak, sick, dangerous, fundamentalists, terrorists, ugly, black, backward, poor, uncivilized…etc. The decades-long slow genocide inflicted on them and their incremental death, therefore, is NOT registered by the world’s conscience!

As much as Apartheid Israel tries to normalize this “incremental genocide” and takes every possible measure to justify it, the world must stand up against it by heeding the BDS call made by Palestinian Civil Society.

Gaza Blues: Hymns of love, death and resistance by Haidar Eid

Please make a donation at our Indiegogo fundraising campaign.

In my hand was my weapon — a tiny mobile phone close to my mouth, my beard soaked with tears. Then the first child — a song — was born, a child baptized in blood. Hence the title, “Love in the Time of Genocide”… Ideally speaking, I hope that this will be a fresh examination of the ravages of occupation, apartheid and genocidal blockade, as well as a reflection of the range of human emotions under these circumstances, from fierce resistance and commitment to freedom to love and romance.

Haidar Eid is an independent political commentator from the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

The album Gaza Blues: Hymns of Love, Death and Resistance is available to purchase through Indiepush.com. Hard copies are available to purchase by contacting adie_mormech AT hotmail DOT com.

The songs are dedicated to the courage and resistance of the Palestinian people on the journey to justice and freedom. All proceeds from sales of the song will be donated towards the Palestinian boycott, divestment and sanctions movement.

Now, we know very well that Israel will carry out this genocide, and will carry out more and more and more massacres, but we do bank on civil society in the world. Our BDS campaign represents the conscience of the world. And Israel has started feeling the heat of the global BDS campaign. So many actors, so many performers and singers have decided to refrain from singing and performing in the “Sun City” of the Middle East, Tel Aviv. Steven Hawking, the most famous physicist in the world, right now has decided to heed our call for academic boycott of Israel. And I can give you hundreds of achievements the BDS campaign has achieved. But we have not reached the moment where the world will start imposing sanctions against apartheid Israel and say, “Enough is enough!”
