BDS Zurich to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide: “We are asking you to investigate the possibility of genocide taking place against the Palestinian people.”

25 November, 2014

To the U.N. Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide,

Months after Israel’s assault on Gaza, we are still extremely concerned about the situation in Palestine. As we still haven’t seen any official actions being taken, we are asking you to investigate the possibility of genocide taking place against the Palestinian people.

The declaration made by the General Assembly of the United Nations defining the crime of genocide should be a guide for the proceeding actions and not used as a justification against the Human Rights of the Palestinians.

Impunity for crimes committed against the native people of Palestine are the source of the conflict leading to countless negative side-effects in the region. We don’t accept the continuation of these crimes and the impunity of the perpetrators that have been tolerated for decades. It is time to apply the justice system and legality to Israel and to start holding accountable those who have been committing crimes against international and humanitarian law.
