Community organizers supporting Palestine and its allies gathered at the intersection of North 56th Street and Fowler Avenue. The Resistance of Tampa Bay group states its mission was to raise awareness and protest “the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.”

“USF and the police demonstrated another act against the voices of students,” stated Laith Hader of the USF chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). “I was there to give a speech about USF’s record of suppressing voices of pro-Palestine activists. Many of those who speak out against the Israeli system of apartheid and genocide are being doxed, fired from their jobs, investigated or interrogated by the state, and are falsely framed as anti-Semitic, all while neo-Nazis and white supremacists are given their ‘free speech’ without any repercussions from the state or its institutions.”

This Sunday, July 5, 2020, six major cities in Florida will be mobilizing direct action by activating a statewide “Day of Rage”. The main objectives of these rallies will be to oppose the annexation of Palestinian territory, protest the Deadly Exchange program and, ultimately, stand against the genocide of the Palestinian people. The six cities participating in this demonstration are Gainesville, Tallahassee, Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Alongside Palestinian liberation, this “Day of Rage” will give a platform to other international struggles and further augment the Black Lives Matter campaign.
