Palestinians call for boycott of genocide conference in Jerusalem by Rania Khalek

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel has called for a boycott of this year’s conference of the International Network of Genocide Scholars (INoGS) in Jerusalem… The title of this year’s conference is, ironically, “Intersections: Holocaust Scholarship, Genocide Research and Histories of Mass Violence.”.. One of the scheduled speakers is Adama Dieng, special adviser on the prevention of genocide to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

… The conference is scheduled to take place from 26 to 29 July at Hebrew University’s Mount Scopus campus, some of which was constructed on land that Israel illegally expropriated from Palestinians in East Jerusalem after Israel militarily occupied the West Bank in 1967… “The conference is sponsored by five deeply complicit Israeli academic institutions,” PACBI states. “Israeli universities are profoundly complicit in developing weapon systems and military doctrines deployed in Israel’s recent war crimes in Lebanon and Gaza; justifying the ongoing colonization of Palestinian land, rationalizing the gradual ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinians; providing moral justification for extrajudicial killings and indiscriminate attacks against civilians; systematically discriminating against ‘non-Jewish’ students in admissions, dormitory room eligibility, financial aid, etc.; and many other implicit and explicit violations of human rights and international law.”

… At the very least, says PACBI, “Whether Israel’s decades-old crimes against the Palestine people meet the UN definition of genocide or not, they should make any honest scholar think twice before participating in a conference on genocide organized by Israeli universities on occupied Palestinian land.”

Nearly half of Israeli Jews believe in ethnic cleansing, survey finds on The Independent

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

In Pew’s survey, 48 per cent of Jewish respondents said Arabs should be removed from Israel, while a similar share disagreed with the statement.

While 54 to 71 per cent of Jews who defined themselves as ultra-Orthodox, religious or “traditional” supported such a step, only about 36 per cent of the secular community did.

“While religious identity influences Israeli Jews’ views on the expulsion of Arabs, the survey finds that even after taking this and other demographic factors into account, Jews’ views on the expulsion of Arabs are most strongly correlated with their political ideology,” the Pew Research Centre report noted.

Israel to Demolish 13,000 Palestinian Structures by Stephen Lendman

Please make a donation at our Indiegogo fundraising campaign.

Longstanding Israeli policy calls for Judaizing Palestine, ethnically cleansing non-Jews, continuing slow-motion genocide against Muslims, and prohibiting Palestinian self-determination…

A new UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) report is titled “Under Threat: Demolition Orders in Area C of the West Bank” – comprising over 60% of its land, including its valued water resources and most agricultural areas. OCHA cited Israeli data indicating plans to demolish an estimated 13,000 Palestinian owned structures – “heighten(ing) the vulnerability of thousands of poor Palestinian households, some of whom are at imminent risk of forcible displacement.”

BDS: A Global Movement for Freedom & Justice by Omar Barghouti

Make a donation at our Indiegogo fundraising campaign right now.

In challenging Israel’s oppression, the global BDS campaign does not call for Israel to be treated according to higher or lower standards than those that apply to any other state committing similar crimes and violations of international law. Although Israel is by no means the most atrocious offender around the world, it is the only ongoing offender that has constantly been treated as an honorary member of the Western club of “democracies,” with the Holocaust cynically — and quite irrelevantly — summoned as a smokescreen to cover up this collusion. The virtually unparalleled state of exceptionalism and impunity that Israel enjoys today allows it to pursue its agenda of apartheid, ethnic cleansing and slow-genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine without any regard to international law or concern about possible punitive measures for violating it. As some progressive Jewish intellectuals have stated recently, “Never Again!” must always be understood to mean: never again to anyone.

New evidence from 1967 war reveals Israeli atrocities by Ilan Pappe

“In the operation we had to cleanse the inhabitants. This uprooting of a villager, rooted in his village and turning him into a refugee, by simply expelling him, and not one, two or three of them but a real eviction. And when you see a whole village is led like lambs to the slaughter without any resistance you understand what is the Holocaust.” — An Israeli soldier’s testimony in the documentary Censored Voices, directed by Mor Loushi (2015)…

The 1948 atrocities were ignored by the international community and for a long time the entire Nakba was denied while the Holocaust memory seemed to provide carte blanche to Israel to continue the ethnic cleansing of Palestine… This month as we commemorate the 48th year of the 1967, war we should remind ourselves once more that this was a chapter in a history of dispossession, ethnic cleansing and occasionally genocide of the Palestinians.

The Palestinian Nakba: A time to remember global indigenous struggles by Ahmad Moussa

Make a donation at our Indiegogo fundraising campaign.

The third wave of the Nakba involves the combination of the constant and permanent military adventures of Israel as a settler colonial state combined with laws and policies that administer and facilitate settler colonialism. This has come to be known as bureaucratic ethnic cleansing aimed at using laws and policies to undermine, disempower, oppress and colonize the Palestinians living both within the enclave and reservation territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip as well as those living inside Israel facing similar laws and policies to those under occupation and colonization. This wave includes the negotations also known as the ‘Peace Process’ as well as the latest ‘recognition’ trend of statehood for the Palestinians as both have been providing more time and distraction tactics for the continued incremental genocide of the Palestinians.

Berkeley Voice letters: Curtis V. Manning

Israel has subjected the Palestinian people to ethnic cleansing and ongoing genocide — killing, destroying homes and farms, food crops, and assassinating their politicians. No wonder the Palestinians don’t like the Israelis.

UN Resolution on Palestine: Palestinians Need Fewer Negotiations, Not More by Matt Peppe

Palestinians have been struggling for seven decades to maintain their existence in spite of dispossession, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and slow-motion genocide. How else to honor this heroic resistance than to prove definitively that Israel’s claims to being a democracy and Jewish state have never been anything more than a myth?

US & Australia Opposition to Palestinian Freedom by Gideon Polya

This decision is a slap in the face of Humanity in that it permits the continuing Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestine and merits the strongest possible reaction of the civilized world through Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) not just against Israel, but also against its key supporters the genocidal colonization-based Apartheid states of America and Australia and those cowardly pro-Apartheid Israel states which abstained from the vote, namely the U.K., Rwanda, Nigeria, Lithuania, and South Korea.

Accordingly governments and ordinary citizens around the world need to take resolute action against Israel and Israel-supporting states through Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) of the kind that were successfully applied by Humanity against the obscenity of neo-Nazi in Apartheid South Africa. Indeed in our intensely advertising-, competition-, and market-based capitalist world we are enjoined to exercise free choice in purchase of goods and services. Would you buy coffee produced by slave labor? Would you buy soap made in Auschwitz? Would you buy goods and services from states supporting Israeli human rights abuse, war crimes and genocide?

On Gaza, genocide, and impunity by Abukar Arman

To understand why what happened in Darfur is officially considered genocide and Israel’s brutal ethnic-cleansing of the Palestinian people is not, one must read Mahmood Mamdani’s The Politics of Naming. As he explains: “It seems that genocide has become a label to be stuck on your worst enemy, a perverse version of the Nobel Prize, part of a rhetorical arsenal that helps you vilify your adversaries while ensuring impunity for your allies.” As much as Israel is trying to misrepresent what it is doing in Palestine and move away from the word “genocide”, it is clear that its strategy is failing.
