The “Ulm 5”: How Germany is criminalising opposition to the Gaza genocide by Florian Hasek

A trial has been underway since April 27, 2026 that is setting a dangerous precedent in Germany’s post-war history. Five young people – from Ireland, Britain, Spain and Germany, aged between 20 and 30 – are standing trial before the Staatsschutzkammer in Stuttgart-Stammheim, a specialized panel of judges within the German regional court system that handles cases relating to national security, and are being treated like terrorists because they destroyed property belonging to an Israeli arms corporation. Throughout the proceedings, their fundamental democratic rights are being stripped away and the harshest prison conditions imposed in order to intimidate anyone who protests against the genocide in Gaza.

130 Companies, 23 Countries: Investigation Reveals International Infrastructure Behind Israel’s Wars by The Palestine Chronicle

An open-source investigation by Arabi Post identified 130 companies from 23 countries across six continents that continued supplying Israel with weapons, technologies, logistical support and industrial services from October 2023 through May 2026.

The report argued that these supply chains remained active despite repeated international calls and UN measures urging states to halt arms transfers linked to Israel’s military operations.

According to the investigation, the support structure extended beyond direct weapons production and represented what researchers described as a broad multinational industrial ecosystem sustaining Israeli operations in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Iran.

The genocide has “killed my lungs.”Footnote1 This is how Samah al-Dahshan narrates losing her nine-year-old daughter Nasma. In one of their many displacements, the family evacuated from al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. They made their way south on al-Rashid Street. Israeli soldiers started firing. They killed Nasma. Samah rushed to her body. The bullets rained on what remained of the family. They fled. During the brief ceasefire, Samah returned to the spot hoping to find Nasma. To bury her. But “her body disappeared like smoke.”Footnote2 Now, every patch of earth is Nasma’s grave. Samah is “barely able to breathe.”Footnote

As of 4 June 2025, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that 3,839 older persons (defined as men and women 60 years or older) had been killed in Gaza since 7 October 2023.8 Whereas older persons comprise five per cent of the total populationividuals as of 4 June 2025.10 Importantly, fatality figures reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health only include persons killed in conflict-related violence, such as airstrikes or by live fire. The number of older persons who have died of preventable deaths due to a lack of access to medical care, food and water is unknown, although studies predict that for every direct killing in Gaza there could be up to fifteen indirect deaths.

MIT Science For Genocide by MIT Coalition for Palestine

  2. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) contributes to the Gaza Genocide and Zionist settler colonialism in Palestine in at least two distinct ways. First, MIT laboratories on campus conduct weapons and surveillance research directly sponsored by the Israeli military. Since at least 2015, MIT laboratories have received millions of dollars from the Israeli Ministry of Defense for projects to develop algorithms that help drone swarms to better pursue escaping targets; to improve underwater surveillance technology; and support military aircraft evade missiles. Two of these sponsorships were renewed since October 7th, 2023, while one came up for renewal in December 2024. Second, MIT maintains institutional collaborations through the ILP, LGO, CSAIL, and MIT Energy Initiative programs with companies that sell vast amounts of weapons to Israel. These include Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest military contractor, as well as Maersk, Lockheed Martin, and Caterpillar. These collaborations grant genocide profiteers privileged access to MIT talent and expertise.
