Defunding the police is integral to the greater goal to end imperialism. We say this because we are anti-capitalist and we understand that imperialism is a tool of capital that has been used to enslave our ancestors just as it is now used to cut down the lives of Palestinians. Today, Chicago police are trained by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) which is leading the occupation and genocide of Palestinians. During Ferguson and every other BLM protest following, Palestinian activists reached out to black protesters and offered solidarity and support. Through this solidarity, it became clear that Black and Palestinian struggles are deeply intertwined

DePaul professor ignites free-speech uproar with unabashed pro-Israel views by Valerie Richards

His article last month declaring that Israel has a “moral right to annex all of the West Bank” has made him persona non grata on campus, the focus of student protests and a Faculty Council vote condemning his article for promoting “racism toward Arabs generally and Palestinians in particular.”
At a campus forum Tuesday on Middle East politics and academic freedom, a dozen students walked out chanting, “Jason Hill, you can’t hide, we know you want genocide,” as shown on video by Students for Justice in Palestine at DePaul.
