Palestinian civil society’s response to states that claim they cannot support South Africa’s ICJ submission to protect their role as “mediators” by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

  • [M]ediating between the perpetrators of genocide and those being subjected to it can only be relevant once the genocide is stopped. Any serious mediation efforts must uphold the rule of law and premise their actions on international law. For a fair mediation to take place, Israel’s genocidal massacres and starvation of the Palestinians in Gaza must first be brought to an immediate end.
  • The only legal and moral position for any state to take is to support the South African demand for the ICJ to issue Provisional Measures to stop the aggression, allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, and stop and reverse the systematic forced displacement. Nothing else matters as much.
  • Stopping the US-Israeli genocide is not just an absolute necessity to save hundreds of thousands of Palestinians lives. It is also an absolute necessity to save international law and save humanity from the “might makes right” era towards which Israel, backed by the colonial West, is taking the world, undermining peace and security for nations across the globe.

Ending #GazaGenocide is a Feminist Issue: Call from Palestinian Women from Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

In response to Israel’s unfolding genocide in Gaza, we, women’s unions and grassroots movements representing Palestinian women inside historic Palestine and in exile, call on women and women’s organizations worldwide to speak up and rise up, especially on the global day of action on November 11/12, to support our struggle to end this genocide.

… Palestinian women have been struggling for decades against the intersection of national, social and economic oppressions, calling out the inherent patriarchal core of Israel’s regime of oppression.

We urge you to escalate BDS pressure campaigns against apartheid Israel and to simultaneously pressure your governments to:

  • Implement an immediate ceasefire and ensure unhindered life-saving aid supply to Gaza
  • Reject any forced transfer of population
  • Ensure UN protection for Palestinians trapped under Israeli siege in Gaza
  • Impose a comprehensive military-security embargo on Israel as well as other sanctions to end their own complicity.
  • Demand that the ICC investigate war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the crime of genocide and apartheid, perpetrated by Israel.

Let’s Keep Mobilizing to Stop Genocide: If Not Now, When? by Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

We need to keep the pressure on! An urgent ceasefire and life-saving aid are immediately required to stop this genocide, followed by enacting international law measures to hold Israel accountable for this genocide, as well as 75 years of apartheid and settler-colonialism against Indigenous Palestinians.

5 more actions YOU can take to make this happen:

  1. Pressure parliaments and governments to call for a UNGA session to debate the US veto and call for ceasefire; life-saving aid into Gaza; and UN protection for Palestinians in Gaza; ICC and other investigations into Israel’s war crimes and crimes against humanity; and military embargo.
  2. Continue mobilizing loud, creative and peaceful actions with a cross-section of civil society and bring with you our messaging cards to amplify Palestinian demands. Make sure your messaging is strategic and morally consistent.
  3. Call on influential writers, authors, sports and cultural figures to join the call for solidarity with the Palestinian people.
  4. Mobilize institutional pressure campaigns (including boycotts or divestment) against Israeli and international companies and banks that are complicit in Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity, including apartheid.
  5. Mobilize your community, trade union, association, church, social network, student government/union, city council, cultural center, or other organizations to declare themselves Apartheid Free Zones (AFZ), ending all relations with apartheid Israel and companies/institutions that are complicit in its system of oppression, as was done against apartheid South Africa.

We need to keep mobilizing urgently to stop this genocide. If not now, when?

Investing in apartheid Israel: Ideology or economic interest? by Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

A few weeks ago, Intel’s Israeli VP Tzahi Weisfeld admitted convincing managers of huge multinationals to invest in Israel “because I’m a Zionist and a proud Israeli.” Many of those conglomerates had questioned, for obvious reasons, the wisdom of investing heavily in Israel. Intel has invested billions in Israel’s economy despite the exceptional risks involved. Its main factory is in Kiryat Gat, a settlement built on top of the Palestinian village of Iraq al Manshiya, ethnically cleansed by Israel after the 1948 Nakba. By doing so, Intel has exposed itself to possible lawsuits from Palestinian survivors of the Nakba on whose stolen land the company has built its factory. Kiryat Gat is also very close to the occupied Gaza Strip, where over 2 million Palestinians have suffered under Israel’s brutal siege conditions that constitute “incremental genocide,” in the words of progressive Israeli historian Ilan Pappe. A fund manager is obliged to “put personal interests or ideological commitments aside.”

Israel’s new far-right government: Unprecedented challenges and opportunities by the BDS National Committee

Supporting the recent pogrom by fascist Jewish-Israeli militias against Palestinians in Huwara near Nablus in the occupied Palestinian territory and overtly inciting state terrorism, senior Israeli government minister, Bezalel Smotrich, a self-declared “fascist,” said, “I think Huwara needs to be erased. The state should be the one to do that.” Smotrich, however, is not the first Israeli leader to publicly embrace or threaten genocidal acts against Indigenous Palestinians. Labor Party leader Matan Vilnai in 2008 threatened Palestinians with “a bigger shoah [Holocaust]” if resistance groups did not stop their armed retaliation to Israel’s criminal siege and violent attacks on Gaza. A recent error by Israel’s censors accidentally has revealed secret documents exposing David Ben Gurion’s support for “wiping out” Palestinian villages during the 1948 Nakba, with a minister in his first government admitting, “Let us say that instances of rape occurred in [the ethnically cleansed Palestinian city] Ramle. I can forgive instances of rape, but I will not forgive other acts,” such as forcibly removing “jewelry from women.”

Following Israel’s latest massacre in Gaza: It’s high time for the UN to act to dismantle apartheid by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

It is crucial to remember that Israel’s latest massacre took place in the context of the criminal siege of Gaza. Already in its 15th year, the siege is older than most of the children murdered in Israel’s repeated massacres there since 2008. The siege deprives over two million Palestinians, the majority of them children, of basic necessities, including clean water, jobs, reliable electric power, as well as adequate housing, healthcare, and education. As a result, morbidity, mortality (especially infant mortality), stunted growth, and poverty rates have risen sharply, reducing the lives of people there to hell. Israel’s siege of Gaza is condemned by human rights experts as a crime against humanity, while activists and some historians have termed it, “incremental genocide”… The utter failure of the International Criminal Court and the United Nations, including the General Assembly, to hold Israel accountable for its prolonged and continued crimes against humanity makes them also key culprits in Israel’s recent massacre in Gaza.

In Gaza BDS gives us hope by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

For us Indigenous Palestinians, the growing impact of the BDS movement is one of our main beacons of hope. A former UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, Richard Falk, described the siege of Gaza as “prelude to genocide.” While UN reports predicted that Gaza would be uninhabitable by 2020, over two million Palestinians in Gaza continue to live under inhumane conditions of immense suffering and deprivation.

Ending the ongoing Palestinian Nakba #KeyToJustice by the Palestinian BDS National Committee

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Israel and the Zionist movement had hoped that Palestinians would one day “forget,” but by perpetrating every imaginable crime against us, they inadvertently made sure that we never do. The siege and what Israeli historian Ilan Pappe calls the “incremental genocide” of two million in the Gaza ghetto; the ceaseless theft of our lands and forcible displacement of our communities, particularly in Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley and the Naqab (Negev); the endless colonial settlements; and the overarching apartheid system that relentlessly reminds us that we, the indigenous people of the land, can only achieve freedom, justice or equality after ending this ruthless Israeli regime of oppression.

Solidarity between Palestinians and Indigenous Activists has Deep Roots by Marion Kawas

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The BDS National Committee (BNC) released a powerful statement at the same time as diaspora Palestinians in Vancouver sent greetings to the daily #WetsuwetenStrong protest in that city. Both emphasized the brave and tireless resistance of the indigenous defenders, with the BNC noting that Palestinians owe them “a great debt for teaching us how to resist settler colonialism generation after generation through your powerful resistance, grace and indomitable spirit”.

But these strong expressions of Palestinian support are not new and have a long and rich history.

… In 2012, there was a strong statement of support from Palestinians with the IdleNoMore movement and indigenous rights. Multiple organizations and individuals signed on to show the depth of support and understanding between the two struggles. They said in part:

“We recognize the deep connections and similarities between the experiences of our peoples – settler colonialism, destruction and exploitation of our land and resources, denial of our identity and rights, genocide and attempted genocide.”
