No ‘revolution’ without Palestine: A letter to Bernie Sanders by Yoav Litvin

Sanders has a unique opportunity to powerfully inspire a real grassroots “political revolution” by confronting his own complicity with Zionist criminality and the bi-partisan consensus on Israel/Palestine. The courage to recognise Israel’s crimes and support Palestinians in their struggle for freedom are morally consistent, left-wing, anti-establishment, anti-imperialist positions, which do not come at the expense of Israelis or Jews. Opposition to ongoing apartheid and genocide in Israel/Palestine and support for peaceful tactics such as BDS are key galvanising themes, which would set Sanders apart from other candidates.

Sanders v. Clinton on Palestine: No Contest by Eric Mann

It is my view that the Israeli government, with the active support and military aid of the U.S. government is committing human rights abuses and genocide against the Palestinian people. I believe that Hillary Clinton is aggressively, willfully, and consciously aiding and abetting that genocide and must be defeated in California and at the Democratic Convention.

Presidential candidates fail to realize Palestinian conflict as genocide by Nadia Khansa

The Onion was recently bought by Hillary Clinton’s biggest supporter, Haim Saban — who says he supports Clinton because he is a “one-issue guy, and that issue is Israel.” Because although all of the candidates are fairly pro-Israel (yes, even your beloved Bernie Sanders favors the Zionists over the victims of Israel’s genocide), Clinton objectively supports them the most. Thinking about why that’s wrong made me realize there are still a lot of people who don’t know much about the Palestinian genocide.

Bernie Sanders is a marvelous orator, full of passion and conviction. Bernie, like Obama and Hillary, supports the U.S./Israel genocide in Palestine and more war in Afghanistan. Voting for any of the candidates is voting for The American Empire: endless war, genocide in Palestine, support of horrible dictators, drones, 800 military bases the world over.

The Enemy Is Within by Alfatih Ziada

If you are not dedicated to the destruction of empire and the dismantling of American militarism, then you cannot count yourself as a member of the left. It is not a side issue. It is the issue. It is why I refuse to give a pass in this presidential election campaign to Bernie Sanders, who refuses to confront the war industry or the crimes of empire, including U.S. support for the slow genocide carried out by Israel against the Palestinians. There will be no genuine democratic, social, economic or political reform until we destroy our permanent war machine.

The Great Bernie Debate by Robert Fantina

When discussing U.S. political campaigns, it is difficult not to mention the old tale of the ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’, and Mr. Sanders and his campaign certainly invoke such thoughts in this writer. In the fable, it was said that the Emperor is wearing magnificent clothes, but that only his intelligent subjects could see them. One can also say that Mr. Sanders is a progressive socialist, fighting for the poor and the working class, opposing the status quo and wanting to usher in a brand new world, but that sadly, only his fellow-progressives recognize his greatness. But his greatness, like the emperor’s clothes, simply doesn’t exist. Support for the military, defending Israeli genocide of the Palestinians, reducing the rights of the U.S. citizenry are not the hallmarks of a progressive socialist. They are, instead, the characteristics of a common U.S. politician. No amount of pretty words can camouflage that fact.

De Blasio’s support for Israeli genocide and the limits of ‘progressivism’ by Ben Becker

“While tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets worldwide against the siege of Gaza, the Senate voted 100-0 to support it. That of course includes senators Elizabeth Warren, “the socialist” Bernie Sanders and Al Franken. Their liberal conscience was apparently unaffected by the images of murdered Palestinian children, whose deaths passed without mention in the Congressional resolution. A couple days earlier, New York Mayor Bill De Blasio, the celebrity progressive of the moment, likewise maintained his steadfast public support for Israel and its “right to defend itself.”…De Blasio’s speech in front of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in January wasn’t just an endorsement of Israel. It was a pledge of servitude. He declared that defending Israel was “part of his job description” as mayor of New York — a statement that left many New Yorkers scratching their heads. He declared that City Hall “will always be open to AIPAC” and that,“When you need me to stand by you or Washington or elsewhere, I will answer the call, and I’ll answer it happily, ’cause that’s my job.”
