UN genocide official warned not to be complicit in Israel’s crimes on The Electronic Intifada

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Pressure has continued to mount on organizers of a major international conference on genocide to move the venue from Jerusalem… One of the scheduled conference speakers is Adama Dieng, special adviser on the prevention of genocide to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Last month, more than two dozen civil society and human rights groups from around the world published a letter urging Dieng to withdraw from the conference… Dieng did not respond to The Electronic Intifada’s requests for comment.

Palestinians call for boycott of genocide conference in Jerusalem by Rania Khalek

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel has called for a boycott of this year’s conference of the International Network of Genocide Scholars (INoGS) in Jerusalem… The title of this year’s conference is, ironically, “Intersections: Holocaust Scholarship, Genocide Research and Histories of Mass Violence.”.. One of the scheduled speakers is Adama Dieng, special adviser on the prevention of genocide to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

… The conference is scheduled to take place from 26 to 29 July at Hebrew University’s Mount Scopus campus, some of which was constructed on land that Israel illegally expropriated from Palestinians in East Jerusalem after Israel militarily occupied the West Bank in 1967… “The conference is sponsored by five deeply complicit Israeli academic institutions,” PACBI states. “Israeli universities are profoundly complicit in developing weapon systems and military doctrines deployed in Israel’s recent war crimes in Lebanon and Gaza; justifying the ongoing colonization of Palestinian land, rationalizing the gradual ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinians; providing moral justification for extrajudicial killings and indiscriminate attacks against civilians; systematically discriminating against ‘non-Jewish’ students in admissions, dormitory room eligibility, financial aid, etc.; and many other implicit and explicit violations of human rights and international law.”

… At the very least, says PACBI, “Whether Israel’s decades-old crimes against the Palestine people meet the UN definition of genocide or not, they should make any honest scholar think twice before participating in a conference on genocide organized by Israeli universities on occupied Palestinian land.”

Petition to Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon: Include Israel’s Army on UN List of Serious Violators of Children’s Rights

Petition to Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon: Include Israel’s Army on UN List of Serious Violators of Children’s Rights… This listing with the Israeli forces on it, would propel Israel further towards pariah status within international bodies and could lead to UN sanctions which are at this point, after seventy years of denial, oppression and slow genocide, all the people of Palestine have to stop these crimes against humanity.

Petitioning Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon: Acknowledge the Gaza Genocide

We must recognize the atrocities being committed in Gaza as Genocide.  Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide is clear… Sir, at every turn, genocide has been ignored only to be acknowledged after the fact.   As Secretary General of the United Nations, you are obliged to put a stop to the ongoing genocide and punish the perpetrators.  If the call to duty, the voice of conscience, and the voices of the signatories to this petition is not heeded, then it is incumbent upon you to resign from your post.

Imran Khan writes to UN chief over Gaza massacre on Samaa

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

As the world watches Israel losing all sense of humanity and breaking all international norms of behaviour, it is the UN to which it looks for intervention. After the UN World Summit of 2005 the international community asserted the principle of the Right to Protect as part of humanitarian intervention. The primary responsibility for enforcing this rests with the UN and its SG. I call on you to immediately exercise this responsibility to prevent a genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza.

… My country has always been one of the prime supporters of the UN in its peace and security functions. My Party has justice and human dignity as underlying principles. We cannot now allow the UN to lose all credibility because one powerful state is allowing Israel to conduct aggression against Gaza with impunity. We have a right to demand that you as the SG enforce the UN Charter and play an active role in halting Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian population of Gaza. As SG you must also demand and ensure Egypt open its border with Gaza to allow medical assistance and essential supplies to go into Gaza. You have a duty to ensure that the plan of genocide of the Palestinians by the Israeli state is thwarted. It is time for you as the UNSG to fulfill this critical duty.”

The Brussels Tribunal also Calls: Write to UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide

Not to be mistaken with the Russell Tribunal, The Brussels Tribunal wrote the following letter to the  UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide:

20 July, 2014

To UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide

Gaza – 16 July death on the beach – funeral procession. 17 July, 2014 - The 4 boys slaughtered on the Gaza beach whilst playing football
Gaza – 16 July death on the beach – funeral procession. 17 July, 2014 – The 4 boys slaughtered on the Gaza beach whilst playing football

We are witnessing genocide in Gaza, Iraq, Syria, we are witnessing the use of illegal weapons, the bombings of hospitals, schools, a home for the disabled, the trauma of children, ethnic cleansing on a massive scale. We have heard the statements re Gaza of a desire that mothers are killed so no more children will be born. WHY are you silent? The UN has lost all credibility. Ban’s “concern” and “regret” are weasel words, pathetic – but you, “Office of the Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide” leave one speechless at your silence. Shame on you.
