38 years ago, Lebanese Phalangist militia stormed the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut, killing an estimated 800-3500 Palestinians and Lebanese civilians, as Israel’s army watched on.

The massacre has been laballed an ‘act of genocide’ by the UN commission

1982 Beirut massacre still haunts survivors by Seda Sevencan

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Shortly after Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982, right-wing Lebanese groups allied with the invaders stormed the camp, killing its inhabitants, raping mothers in front of their families and mutilating pregnant women.
When the incident – which went on for over three days, from Sept. 15 to 18 – was over, some 3,000 Palestinians and Lebanese, mostly Shia, had been murdered.
The night before the massacre, Israel’s then-Defense Minister Ariel Sharon had ordered that the camp be surrounded in advance, effectively paving the way for one of the bloodiest massacres in modern history. After the massacre, on Dec. 16, 1982, the United Nations condemned what happened and declared it an act of genocide. However, there are still no judgments and penalties regarding the massacre.

Leonard Cohen and the Concert That Never Was on The MIT Press Reader

For me, somebody who in 2009 had already been a signatory of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) for three years, and had been critical of Zionism as an ideology that purports to speak for world Jewry and as an ideal to which we are supposed to adhere, the Zionist ideology of people like Sharon was something that I had long ago divested myself from. So, seeing my newfound idol sitting next to Sharon, who is like the symbol of everything that has gone wrong (in terms of Jewish nationalism, the displacement of people, and the genocide being waged against the Palestinian people), on the receiving end of Cohen’s art put me into a state of panic.

In words and deeds: The genesis of Israeli violence by Ramzy Baroud

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Undeniably, the views of Ariel, Bennett and Caspit are not angry statements uttered in a moment of rage. They are all reflections of real policies that have been carried out for over 70 years. Indeed, killing, raping and imprisoning for life are features that have accompanied the state of Israel since the very beginning.

This violent legacy continues to define Israel to this day, through the use of what Israeli historian Ilan Pappe describes as “incremental genocide”.

Throughout this long legacy, little has changed except for names and titles. The Zionist militias that orchestrated the genocide of the Palestinians prior to the establishment of Israel in 1948 merged together to form the Israeli army; and the leaders of these groups became Israel’s leaders.

Israel’s legacy of terror and ethnic cleansing by Ramzy Baroud

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Zionist colonisation in Palestine began in earnest in 1881, when the leaders of the Zionist Movement in Europe eyed Arab Palestine as an exclusive home for Jews, paying little heed to the indigenous inhabitants of the land. These early ambitions culminated to a bloody, and well-orchestrated terror campaign in 1947-48, resulting in the creation of the state of Israel atop the ruins of the Palestinian homeland.
This violent legacy continues to define the state of Israel to this day, through the use of what Israeli historian Ilan Pappe describe as “incremental genocide”.
Since then, little has changed except for names and titles. Zionist militias that orchestrated the genocide of Palestinians prior to the establishment of Israel merged together to form the Israeli army; and the leaders of these groups became Israel’s leaders.

Hypocrisy is not a four letter word by Tariq A. Al-Maeena

In its short history, the [International Criminal] Court has dealt with crimes of aggression primarily in some countries in Africa.  Despite repeated calls, it has continued to ignore calls for investigations into crimes committed by Israelis against Palestinians.  It has remained mysteriously silent about the massacres of the residents of Sabra and Shatila and the butchery of civilians in Jenin crafted by Ariel Sharon the Israeli premier at the time, followed by the public display of the genocide of the women and children of Gaza at the behest of the current Israeli premier, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Is Israel Committing the Crime of Genocide? by Amandla!

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

As Dr. Rania Masri points out, it is crucial to [understand] that the Palestinians constitute a national entity. Israel’s human rights violations against one part of the group in fact apply to the whole, since one of Israel’s crimes against the indigenous people of Palestine is their geographic division. The [Russell] tribunal is focusing on Gaza, and within that narrow scope it has already found it instructive to examine Israel’s actions according to the criteria of the Convention on the Crime of Genocide. Meanwhile a journalist for Electronic Intifada, Rania Khalek (among others), has put Israel’s human rights violations against the whole of the Palestinian people in context – in Gaza, the West Bank, inside the 1948 armistice line, and the flow of Palestinian refugees around the world. Her coverage has revealed an horrific picture of Israel’s “intent to destroy” a “national group under the definition of genocide”.

Palestinians and the Belgium Supreme Court have been talking about “acts of genocide” since Ariel Sharon came to power in 2003, but many others have concurred in the view that such a term is appropriate since then. It seems that Israel’s latest assault on Gaza has culminated in a tsunami of allegations of genocide. A global campaign called “Israel Genocide?” (http://israelgenocide.wordpress.com/) is calling for the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide to “investigate the possibility that Israel is committing the Crime of Genocide against the Palestinian People, and that the it publish its findings and recommendations.”

“Today, I read a letter from Ariel Sharon’s son : “We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza… The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima”.”

2 February, 2015

To the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide,

I read a letter this summer written by Ayelet Shaked, lawmaker in Israel :
“They are all enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads. Now this also includes the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They should follow their sons, nothing would be more just. They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there. “

Today, I read a letter from Ariel Sharon’s son : “We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza… The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima”.

This must stop. This is a genocide.

Please stop them, Israel was created in 1948 by compassion, but themselves have no compassion. They want only the territory !

I invite Israel genocide to add my letter to its website.

Camille,
Canada

Israelis must pay for their war crimes By Tariq A. Al Maeena

In its short history, ICC has chased down events in relation to crimes of aggression primarily in some countries in Africa. However, despite repeated calls, it continues to ignore calls for investigations into crimes committed by the Israelis against Palestinians. It has remained mysteriously silent on the massacres of the residents of Sabra and Shatilla and the butchery of civilians in Jenin, crafted by Ariel Sharon, the then Israeli prime minister, followed by a public display of pre-designed genocide of women and children of Gaza at the behest of the current Israeli premier, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Saudi Gazette: Have we forgotten Israeli war crimes in Gaza?

In its short history, the ICC has investigated crimes of aggression primarily in some African countries.  Despite repeated calls, it has continued to ignore crimes committed by Israelis against Palestinians.  It has remained mysteriously silent about the massacres of residents of Sabra and Shatila, the butchery of civilians in Jenin crafted by Ariel Sharon the Israeli premier at the time and the public display of genocide of the women and children of Gaza at the behest of the current Israeli premier, Benjamin Netanyahu… The question then for the ICC is this:  When will it hold the Israelis accountable for such continued barbarity?
