Eurovision is a mere example of how Israel is desperately trying to gain legitimacy through a stubborn insistence on old myths and the almost comical exhaustion of the same talking points. Because Zionism is a modern colonial movement that is incompatible with universal human rights and international law, and because Israel does not have any moral or legal justification for the colonization of Palestine and for the genocidal maltreatment of Palestinians, the Israeli regime will continue to desperately necessitate absurd propaganda in its efforts to narrate to the outside world, and probably to itself, a modified version of history, trying to prove that it has some sort of legitimacy.

It gives me no pleasure to write this, but it must be clearly stated for the record: of late, top Israeli political and religious leaders have even incited genocide against the Palestinian people. Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef ruled in March that non-Jewish people, including Palestinians, have no right to live in the country.
… Most worrisome, this racist rhetoric is increasingly influencing the Israeli public, shifting it further and further to the far right. What human rights horrors could this lead to, if left unchecked?

The tool used by the Israeli government and its allies is anti-Semitism and this allows them to continue their genocide of the Palestinians. But in Britain, real anti-Semitism still exists despite it being comparatively low compared to other countries. In September 2017, the Institute of Jewish Policy Research published a report entitled ‘Antisemitism in contemporary Great Britain’.

Israel’s apartheid and genocide uses American funding, weapons and support. It can’t persuade people of the acceptability of these policies in open debate. It continues its crimes by insisting that, as a government serving only Jews, any criticism is “anti-Semitism.” Israel, promised to present the world with a primary and exemplary case of Jewish ethical collective existence. It’s proven the complete opposite: a manifestation of Jewish racism. Israel’s legal system is racially driven.

Online incitement by Israelis against Palestinians has skyrocketed in recent weeks, according to a report in Israel’s Haaretz newspaper… a video surfaced showing an Israeli throwing pork at al-Jabari’s body as he lay on a stretcher. As the man dangles the meat before the camera and then drops it on al-Jabari’s face, he shouts, “Here, see this? This is pig meat. Friends, just in case you don’t know it, they really love pig meat. … He should enjoy with his virgins, with the pig meat.”… Anti-Semites, ironically, have used the same logic to attack Jewish symbols and insult Jews. Last May, for instance, pork was left at a Holocaust memorial in Massachusetts…Israeli Internet incitement may be on the rise, but it is hardly a new phenomenon.
What is clear is that the genocidal hatred many Israelis express online does not stay there. It has already spilled into the streets.

Fast forward to present day. A few weeks ago, I wrote a piece titled “On Gaza, Genocide, and Impunity”. Immediately upon its publication, I started receiving hate emails. This time they all seem to object my usage of the word “genocide” to describe the suffering of the Palestinian people.
