States and companies must end arms transfers to Israel immediately or risk responsibility for human rights violations UN experts by UN Working Group on business and human rights and others

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  1. In line with recent calls from the Human Rights Council and the independent UN experts to States to cease the sale, transfer and diversion of arms, munitions and other military equipment to Israel, arms manufacturers supplying Israel – including BAE Systems, Boeing, Caterpillar, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Oshkosh, Rheinmetall AG, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, RTX, and ThyssenKrupp – should also end transfers, even if they are executed under existing export licenses.
  2. “These companies, by sending weapons, parts, components, and ammunition to Israeli forces, risk being complicit in serious violations of international human rights and international humanitarian laws,” the experts said. This risk is heightened by the recent decision from the International Court of Justice ordering Israel to immediately halt its military offensive in Rafah, having recognised genocide as a plausible risk, as well as the request filed by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court seeking arrest warrants for Israeli leaders on allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. “In this context, continuing arms transfers to Israel may be seen as knowingly providing assistance for operations that contravene international human rights and international humanitarian laws and may result in profit from such assistance.”
  3. Financial institutions investing in these arms companies are also called to account. Investors such as Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung, Amundi Asset Management, Bank of America, BlackRock, Capital Group, Causeway Capital Management, Citigroup, Fidelity Management & Research, INVESCO Ltd, JP Morgan Chase, Harris Associates, Morgan Stanley, Norges Bank Investment Management, Newport Group, Raven’swing Asset Management, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance, State Street Corporation, Union Investment Privatfonds, The Vanguard Group, Wellington and Wells Fargo & Company, are urged to take action. Failure to prevent or mitigate their business relationships with these arms manufacturers transferring arms to Israel could move from being directly linked to human rights abuses to contributing to them, with repercussions for complicity in potential atrocity crimes, the experts said.

What it means to be Deaf and Palestinian in Gaza by Ryan Al-Natour

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  1. In the days after the genocide began, a video circulated across social media of IOF soldiers kidnapping and torturing a Deaf Palestinian named Ihab Tanboura.
  2. Tanboura is a young Deaf man from Beit Lahia. Israeli soldiers filmed themselves torturing and abusing him as Tanboura lay shirtless and bruised on the ground, whilst a booted soldier stepped on his head. In the video, which horrified the Palestinian Deaf community, the soldiers tied Tanboura’s hands behind his back, rendering him unable to communicate while he bled all over the floor. The soldiers proceeded to taunt Tanboura with their guns and laughed as they stepped on his head with their boots. Whilst Tanboura screamed in pain, the soldiers kicked him in his skull, back and chest.
  3. … Any Palestinian would tell you that the Zionist apartheid colonial project is an experience of racism and colonisation. For Deaf Palestinians, Zionism is also experienced as audism — a form of oppression and discrimination directed against Deaf people. Since October 2023, I have gotten to know members of the Palestinian Deaf community across the Gaza Strip. In sharing their accounts, it is my hope that readers will begin to understand their uniquely horrific experiences of the genocide, and how their Deaf and Palestinian identities are inextricably embedded within them.

Running Amok: The feeds of the IDF depict what Zionism can’t see by Mary Turfah

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  1. The cruelty itself, on display in videos like the one taken from the vantage point of Israeli soldiers driving their tank over the “I Love Gaza” sign (that greets visitors entering Gaza through the Rafah crossing), is somehow less disturbing than that it is presented with naked glee—no trace of the sober air that marks a person “doing what needs to be done” or an awareness that the rest of the world might not welcome overt, genocidal sadism as enthusiastically as the average Israeli. It’s like they can’t see us seeing them.

Appeal in Biden Gaza Genocide Case Heard Yesterday: Palestinians Argue Court Has Legal Obligation to Hear Their Claims by Al-Haq

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  1. On June 10, 2024 before a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Palestinians from Gaza and Palestinian-Americans with family in Gaza argued that the courts have a constitutional obligation to hear their claims that President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Secretary of Defense Austin violated their legal duty to prevent – and are complicit in – Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The lower court had found a plausible case of genocide and urged the Biden administration to reexamine its “unflagging support” for Israel’s siege of Gaza, but dismissed the lawsuit in January, finding it was not the court’s place to rule on what it determined was a “political question.”

UN experts condemn outrageous disregard for Palestinian civilians during Israel’s military operation in Nuseirat by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese and others

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  1. GENEVA (14 June 2024) – UN human rights experts* today strongly condemned the umpteenth massacre by Israeli forces in Gaza during a hostage rescue operation in Nuseirat Refugee Camp, which killed at least 274 Palestinians, including 64 children and 57 women, and injured nearly 700.
  2. … “According to survivors, the streets of Nuseirat were filled with bodies of dead and injured people, including children and women, lying in pools of blood. Walls were covered in body parts scattered by multiple explosions and bombed houses,” the experts said.

‘Why are the soldiers hurting Palestinian children?’Parenthood, identity and culture during genocide by Ala Sirriyeh

  1. For the past six months, I have woken at 3am most mornings. By that time, my son has usually made his way to my bed. He is a sociable sleeper and gets lonely on his own in his room. I smell his hair and listen to him breathe, watching his chest rise and fall in the same way I used to when he was a new baby and I needed to check he really did exist. As I do this, I look over his head and scroll through my phone, reading about the unrelenting massacres of Palestinians in Gaza, including little children who look like my son and share his middle names.
  2. By 1 March 2024, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) had killed at least 12,300 children in Gaza through bombings, shootings, and enforced starvation. In October 2023, a video circulated on social media of a man carrying two plastic bags filled with the body parts of his children as he exclaims, “Ya nas ya nas, hadol wladi!” (“People, people, these are my children!”). Palestinian feminist scholar Nadeer Shalhoub-Kervorkian uses the Arabic word “ashla” to describe this dismembering, shattering, and scattering of Palestinian body parts and flesh, of this evisceration beyond death. Even before this genocide, Shalhoub-Kervorkian observed that “Palestinian bodies, both living and dead, are no-bodies that exist at the limits of the human”.

  1. The ICJ also ordered Israel to take effective measures to ensure the unimpeded access to the Gaza Strip of “any commission of inquiry, factfinding mission or other investigative body mandated by competent organs of the United Nations to investigation allegations of genocide”. The Commission notes that it is the UN-mandated investigative body to which this order applied.

  1. “We heard people crying for help in the bombed houses,” Abu Nasser said. “They had martyrs and injuries, but we couldn’t help them.”
  2. The scene was gruesome. “The street was filled with civilian body parts,” he said, “and many injuries bleeding out without ambulances being able to reach them.”
  3. The sustained attack on Nuseirat lasted about 75 minutes. “The operation ended, but we stayed in our places, afraid to move for a long time,” Abu Nasser recalled.

‘I heard all of my friends’ last breath’: Testimonies from the Nuseirat massacre by Tareq S. Hajjaj

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW AND SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE UN OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR.

  1. Issam Hajjaj, 27, survived the massacre and spoke to Mondoweiss. “We were running away from bombing and killing. In all directions, there was either bombing, an Israeli tank, or Israeli gunmen shooting at anyone in their path,” he explained. “While we were running away from death, I saw dismembered bodies on the road as a result of the bombing, and I saw those who left their loved ones under the rubble and fled to save the rest of the family.”
  2. “We did not know from which direction death would come for us.”

Hajjaj says that within minutes of the invasion starting, Israeli forces surrounded the targeted location from all sides and did not leave any route for people to escape except one road, Al-Zuhur Road connecting Nuseirat and Deir Al-Balah. However, just at the same time that the Nuseirat massacre took place, people near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah were fleeing to Nuseirat, and people were using this street to arrive.

Hajjaj explained that the targeted location was two buildings near Al Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat camp, but to reach these two buildings, the Israeli army destroyed an entire residential square.
