GAZA CITY—The Israeli military carried out one of the deadliest attacks on Gaza since the “ceasefire” took effect last month, killing over 30 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, and wounding dozens more in a series of airstrikes late Wednesday and early Thursday. The dead and wounded arrived at hospitals in an endless stream, children were covered in dust and blood, men carried small bodies wrapped in shrouds, and wails of grief rose in the air

These horrific scenes, a daily feature of the past two years of Israel’s acute genocidal assault, had returned again.

… Israel’s attacks came two days after the UN Security Council voted to approve a U.S.-sponsored resolution authorizing an international stabilization force in Gaza, which would not fall under the command of the UN, but rather a so-called Board of Peace chaired by President Donald Trump.

I have mixed feelings of happiness and sadness because when the war ends, another struggle will begin—an internal war. Our wounds will reopen, and we will have time to grieve our beloved ones, to give sadness the time it needs. We may have survived physically, but we haven’t survived mentally. This genocide lives inside us. It swallowed our loved ones, our youth, our dreams. I think this genocide will stay living inside us forever in our minds.

The forced starvation campaign reached a tipping point this summer. At least 273 people in Gaza have died of famine and malnutrition since the start of war, including 112 children. A staggering 86 of those starvation deaths—or 68% of the total—have occurred in the past month, according to a tally of Health Ministry figures. Absent a ceasefire and a massive influx of aid and medical treatment, many more are projected to die of hunger and malnutrition in the coming period.

The Israeli Assassination of Journalist Anas al-Sharif and Five Colleagues in Gaza City by Abdel Qader Sabbah and Sharif Abdel Kouddous

GAZA CITY—The prominent Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif was buried in Gaza City on Monday, a broken slab of rock used as a headstone, one day after his assassination by the Israeli military. Five other journalists —four from Al Jazeera, Mohammed Qraiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal, and one from media outlet Sahat, Mohammed Al-Khalidi—were killed alongside him and also laid to rest.

All six were killed on Sunday night in an Israeli airstrike on their media tent outside Al-Shifa hospital in what the Israeli military proudly proclaimed was an assassination targeting al-Sharif.

… Barely an hour before he was killed, al-Sharif warned of the impending Israeli invasion. “If this madness does not end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased—and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop,” he wrote. “Silence is complicity.”

Palestinians Are Collapsing in Gaza’s Streets From Israeli-Imposed Starvation Campaign by Abdel Qader Sabbah and Sharif Abdel Kouddous

GAZA CITY—Israel’s war of extermination in Gaza continues to plunge to new depths of horror. Starving Palestinians have begun to collapse in the streets and die of hunger as a result of the siege. Those who try to get food are gunned down in ever deadlier aid massacres. The Israeli military issues frequent mass expulsion orders and further expands its ground operations, slicing up the enclave and forcibly displacing Palestinians into more concentrated zones. All the while, the relentless aerial assault and ground attacks persist.

“Until our last breath”: Journalist Anas al-Sharif on Documenting Israel’s Genocide in Gaza Every Day for 11 Straight Months by Sharif Abdel Kouddous

  1. “Anas al-Sharif has become one of the most recognizable faces on television in the Arab world. For the past 11 months, the 27-year-old Al Jazeera correspondent has been reporting from the front lines of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza—now the deadliest place for journalists in modern history. By some counts, over 160 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October—a rate of one journalist killed every other day for nearly a year. Al-Sharif has personally endured threats against his life, and his home was targeted in an Israeli attack, killing his father.
  2. Al-Sharif is one of the few reporters who have remained in northern Gaza since October 7—an area from which, just a few days into the war, the Israeli government ordered 1.1 million people to evacuate and which has been the most heavily bombarded by Israel. One journalist told Drop Site News that there are only around 30 working journalists left in northern Gaza today.
  3. … “I was threatened by the Israeli occupation army and told I needed to stop reporting from northern Gaza and go to the south. But I refused their order, and I didn’t stop my coverage for one moment despite the threats, despite the bombing, despite the siege. Because I didn’t stop and because of my continuous coverage, the Israeli occupation targeted my home, and the home of my family that led to my father being martyred, may God have mercy on him. The circumstances were cruel and difficult and painful for me, and painful for all of us, but this only made me more determined to continue reporting.
  4. … I want to say in this recording that our circumstances are still very cruel and hard. Me and my colleagues have lived through the atmosphere of famine that hit the north of Gaza. Sometimes me and my colleagues go for days without finding a single meal… And yet the suffering is much greater, the suffering is difficult and tragic for us and our people. Yet despite this suffering, we are committed, all of us journalists, to continue on this path to continue reporting to the world.”
