The empathy at that moment comes very naturally, it’s impossible not to feel it. I try to imagine the fear, I try to imagine the voices of the bombs. I mean, I remember myself staying all night, that night, and refreshing her twitter page, just to see if they are still alive, if she’s still tweeting. I mean, I cried all night, I prayed all night, that was one of the horrible nights in my lifetime, too. And then I remembered this quote from Adorno, saying “it’s barbaric to write plans after Auschwitz.” Well, it’s exactly the same situation, I mean, how can you continue talking about your productions and arts and crafts, etc., while this was happening? One cannot be silent. There is a genocide going on in Palestine. It’s very cruel. It would be very cruel to stay in silence, so I wanted to say something.
