The Irish Times: Internationalising the conflict

In withholding $127 million in Palestinian Authority (PA) customs revenues from the authority, as retaliation for its application to join the International Criminal Court(ICC), the Israeli government has once again dangerously escalated tensions… The Palestinians may also have difficulty in making the case that, however reprehensible, the Gaza killings rise to the ICC prosecution threshold for genocide or war crimes, of “unimaginable atrocities that deeply shock the conscience of humanity”. Are they a deliberate strategy or the byproducts of a misguided but “legitimate” war? These are legitimate questions and Israel should prepare to answer them instead of taking revenge on those who ask them.

UN Resolution on Palestine: Palestinians Need Fewer Negotiations, Not More by Matt Peppe

Palestinians have been struggling for seven decades to maintain their existence in spite of dispossession, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and slow-motion genocide. How else to honor this heroic resistance than to prove definitively that Israel’s claims to being a democracy and Jewish state have never been anything more than a myth?

Jesus of Nazareth was a Palestinian by The James Connolly Society

It should not be forgotten that the people in the country of Jesus are suffering ongoing genocide. It is not only our Islamic brothers and sisters who are tormented but our Christian brothers and sisters in Galilee, Nazareth and Bethlehem. Over two million Palestinians have been murdered since the Arab Revolt.

The James Connolly Society would like to take this opportunity to urge everyone to work together for better community relations and to raise awareness for all people persecuted everywhere with acts of genocide. This Christmas remember that Jesus of Nazareth was a Palestinian.

Mads Gilbert: ‘People are questioning Israel’

“This is a genocide. This is a massacre. And I hope that somebody is being held accountable for it,” Gilbert told the media from the site of one of the attacks this year.

“Israeli impunity has gone so far now that they think they can do whatever, with whoever, and they don’t consider Palestinians even human, according to how they treat them now.”

After voicing his indignation, the Israeli response against Gilbert was swift. When he returned to Gaza recently, the Israelis stopped him from entering the Palestinian enclave.

Middle East Monitor: CIA report reveals failure of Israel’s targeted killing policy

A secret CIA review published recently by WikiLeaks reveals that Israel has been among the least successful countries regarding the targeted killing of opponents, Lebanese newspaperAl-Akhbar reported on Thursday… The review, Al-Akhbar continued, does not go into the details of the programme’s failures. However, for anyone well-versed in what is more than half a century of the incremental genocide of the Palestinians by Israel, the answer is very clear.

Reverend right to speak out on treatment of Palestinians by George Konrad DeBlois

I am George deBlois. I am 14 years old, and even at this age I feel I must address a topic I found in The Gazette about a boycott of Israeli products as a protest to Israeli policies… We promised after the war never to forget the Holocaust, and pledged to never again allow the horror of genocide sweep the world. We swore to always remember, and to never, ever forget what humanity is capable of doing to one another, as shown in the terrible genocide in World War II. But we have forgotten…

Many people have refused to speak out against Israel’s barbarity, either by choice or out of fear. But when Reverend Alan D. Kinney of the United Methodist Church voiced his disdain for the Israeli genocide in Palestine and his intent to boycott Israeli products, there was a voice in our community trying to make a difference, trying to honor the memory of the Holocaust and millions of victims by ensuring that this genocide finally be addressed. I am proud of Rev. Kinney for voicing his opinion and taking action against Israel’s brutal slaughter of the Palestinians in Gaza.

When will the oppression of Palestinians end? by Khaled Almaeena

The American government is not the honest broker that it claims to be. Palestinians are left with no choice but to retaliate and stand up to their barbaric occupiers who are carrying out a policy of genocide to eradicate their very existence. Well, the Palestinian people are here to stay.

“Dear Adama Dieng and Jennifer Welsh, Members of the Committee of Prevention Against Genocide: Please have mercy and compassion and stop this slow Genocide on Gaza and Palestinians!”

22 October, 2014

Dear Adama Dieng and Jennifer Welsh, Members of the Committee of Prevention Against Genocide:

We recently watched with horror the 3rd onslaught on Gaza in the last 6 years conducted by Israeli Forces. That means that a child 6 years and older have already lived through 3 wars!! Where in any part of the world is this acceptable before action is taken to prevent and stop the slow Genocide of a Nation? In total, the Palestinians have been living in a brutal Occupation for over 60 years and Gaza living in total Siege since 2005!

I looked up what “Genocide” means and I can tell you that Gaza qualifies hands downs in this instance! There is no doubt in my mind that Israel is performing ethnic cleansing on the Palestinians and if left unchecked will succeed in wiping out the entire Palestinian population.

These are the last Operations that Israel has conducted on Gaza:
2008/09: OPERATION CAST LEAD
2012: OPERATION PILLAR OF DEFENSE
2014: OPERATION PROTECTIVE EDGE

Each so called OPERATION that Israel performed killed thousands of Palestinian civilians and over 400 children!! This is insane! This time Israel killed over 448 innocent children and many are still succumbing to their wounds or are blind, handicapped and paralyzed for life! Why are we not stopping this? The next one will be lethal for all Gazans! And I say this with extreme concern for my Gazan friends. Israel dropped over 700 tonnes of explosives on Gaza in 2014 up from 50 tonnes in 2008! Israel also used white phosphorus which is illegal and many outlawed weapons and chemicals in each attack on Gaza! They also left behind over 5 tonnes of unexploded Israeli bombs which Gaza had to detonate which was extremely dangerous and cost many their lives!

Israel attacked and destroyed over 18,000 homes and many are left to face the harsh winter without shelter and warm clothes. Besides many hospital and schools, and their only power plant destroyed– 161 Mosques were reduced to rubble while many were praying inside!!!

All this devastation is causing extreme hardships on the Gazan people with food and water shortages! They will surely die soon if we do not help them!
Palestinian society as a whole, are being persecuted on a daily basis and not only in Gaza. Israel arrest, shoots and imprison Palestinians daily and many as young as 5 years old are imprisoned. Reports of sexual abuse committed against detained Palestinian children are common. Where are the Human and Children Rights Organizations? Have they fallen asleep? Or do they simply not exist for Palestinians! Israeli soldiers do nothing to stop the attacks of armed Settlers on children on their way to school or who fire on civilians. Israeli citizens are constantly chanting “DEATH TO ALL PALESTINIANS!”. An Israeli teacher texted to a student “Good Arabs in Graves!”.

Where does this all End? It doesn’t matter where it began because we know that the Israeli violence came first before any homemade Hamas rockets.(which by the way have only killed 3). Israel was killing Palestinians long before Hamas came on the scene!

This is abominable in my eyes, in the worlds eyes and especially in Gods eyes! What have we become as a society that a people who were once persecuted themselves are committing these unspeakable atrocities and without remorse. What does that say about us as a society that we are allowing this to go on and are doing nothing to stop this?

I can only ask you, what if this was your child? or your mother or family member this was happening to? Would you speak out and find it morally wrong! IT IS IMMORAL!

Palestinians have a right to resist and to defend themselves and their land! Their land is dwindling down to almost nothing as Israel continues to build its illegal settlements all over and try to squeeze the Palestinians out of their very existence! We strongly believe that Israel’s goal is destroy all Muslim and Christian Holy sites and make Israel a Jewish only racist nation.
Please have mercy and compassion and stop this slow Genocide on Gaza and Palestinians!

I pray with all my heart and soul that you will give this matter your utmost attention!

Sincerely,
A. Layla Bruckner
Los Angeles, California

South African activist, Martin Jansen on Israel’s Apartheid: “Palestinians face racism, but they also face genocide.”

Martin Jansen:

“For me, it is obvious that Palestinians have it much worse than we have ever experienced. Palestinians face racism, but they also face genocide. That genocide takes the form of occupation, removing people from land, and imprisoning them in Gaza: an open-air prison. The West Bank is not that different from Gaza. Palestinians are literally prisoners in a prisoner of war camp. My analysis is that it is a colonial, occupation, settler regime conducting genocide against Palestinians.

From 1948 onwards, when the right wing came to power in South Africa, they tried to introduce a Bantustan system where Africans would be part of those supposed countries. It was similar to what Palestinians face, but the treatment wasn’t half as bad. Africans were required to carry passbooks, like Palestinians. But there was no attempt by the apartheid regime to get rid of Africans or any other group that was not identified white. In fact, there was an economic dependence for cheap labor. There were quite a few massacres in the history of apartheid, but they certainly were not bombed. We never had so many people detained either.”

Wikipedia: Reactions to the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict

  • On 10 July, Bolivia condemned the brutal Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip and called on Tel Aviv to cease hostilities. The Foreign Ministry also called on the international community to intervene to stop “the genocide” and stressed that “should respect and comply with international agreements and treaties.”
  • Brazil‘s Special Advisor for International Relations was quoted saying “For the love of God, what we have here is genocide, a massacre, to the point where top UN officials are starting to talk about war crimes”.
  • On 2 August, the mayor of Érpatak [Hungary], Mihaly Zoltan Orosz, led a demonstration against what he called the “freemason media” conspiracy to silence the “ongoing genocide” committed by the Israeli military against Hamas in Gaza.
  • On 11 July, President Daniel Ortega [Nicaragua] said he “expressed his solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemned the genocidal bombing of Israel. How are we going to condemn us not, at this time, the genocide being committed against the Palestinian people again? Now go over there 80 dead, children, youth of all ages. Who for that genocide?”
  • Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif [Pakistan] said: “I am saddened and disappointed to note the silence of international community against this injustice, the silence and ineffectiveness of the Muslim Ummah has made Palestinians more vulnerable and made Israel more aggressive. The world must stop Israel from this naked and brutal aggression”. He termed the Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza as ‘genocide,’ urging the world to stop Israel’s naked and brutal aggression.
  • Deputy Prime Minister Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed, who was attending the Muslim Scholars Forum in Istanbul, said that the international community has failed to oppose Israeli aggression against Muslims in Palestine. “The ongoing genocide committed by Israel against our brothers in Palestine is something that we can not accept. Killing innocent people of women and children, targeting hospitals, mosques and schools is something very hateful. We share the pain with Palestinians, as we strongly say that Somalia is very upset about what is going in Gaza.
  • Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused Israel of conducting “state terrorism” and a “genocide attempt” against the Palestinians. He also stated that “as long as children are being slaughtered in Palestine, normalisation of Turkey-Israel relations are no longer impossible”.
  • In New Delhi, Protest was organized by 70 political and social groups on the theme of “Stop The Genocide in Gaza! Boycott Israel!” Protestors demanded that the international community, including India should “boycott Israel till the time it continues the illegal occupation of Palestine”.
