If no justice for Palestine — then no peace! by Workers World Party

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Those of us living inside the U.S. witness and experience every day the horrific impact of an economic and social system built on settler-colonial genocide against Indigenous peoples and theft of their lands as well as  enslavement and forced labor of African peoples. The same vile system is at work this very minute against the Palestinian people.

To keep the Rohingya alive by JB Gerald

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The ICC has given its chief prosecutor the go-ahead for a thorough investigation of Myanmar’s treatment of Rohingya. Charges can be made without approval of the Security Council. A difficulty arises in a separate issue; the ICC chief prosecutor has decided there is grounds to pursue war crimes committed in Israel and awaits the court’s sureness that it has the jurisdiction to do so. Israel objects. The Palestine Authority has subscribed to the court. Israel has not. Israel’s Netanyahu has urged the world’s Christian Evangelicals to stand against the World Court, (ie, against international law). While this might protect Israel from charges of genocidal acts against Palestinians, it would also deprive the world’s peoples an ability to counter and correct Myanmar for its crimes against the Rohingya.

Artist-activist Remy speaks on his Palestinian solidarity mural in Santa Fe by Alex De Vore

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, homeowner Guthrie Miller appealed a decision handed down from the city’s Land Use Department in a letter dated Jan. 28 informing him that the material and colors of the mural, which appeared overnight on his property on Jan. 5, did not conform to historic district standards. In an email to SFR, city spokeswoman Lilia Chacon was adamant that the mural’s politically charged content did not play a part in the decision. Bits and pieces of the mural have already been torn down by unknown parties.

The mural itself was created and executed by Arizona-based Navajo artist and activist Remy, who is launching direct actions in Iowa during the lead-up to the presidential caucus. SFR spoke with Remy by phone to get a clearer idea about his intent and how he feels about the future of the mural, entitled “Palestinian Solidarity Wall.”

Can you tell us about the impetus behind the mural?

I think it was just to bring attention to the Palestinian struggle in terms of colonization and genocide.

Israeli Holocaust Commemoration Marred by Political Infighting by Richard Silverstein

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Returning to Yad Vashem, the western portion of its current site was the Palestinian site, Hirbat al-Hamama.  It was the agricultural fields of the adjacent village of Ayn Karem.  All of the Palestinian settlements were occupied by the Palmach in July 1948.  Their inhabitants were driven out.   The hill immediately adjacent to the current museum site is where Deir Yassin once sat.  And on another nearby hill in the Jerusalem Forest, Mohammed Abu Khdeir was brutally murdered in an incident portrayed in the HBO series, Our Boys. As conference-goers discuss weighty subjects of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Europe, they ought not to lose sight of the fact of Israeli Nakba and ethnic cleansing.  As the Jewish people recovered from the Holocaust, the Yishuv repeated a similar crime against the Palestinian people.

Letter: Racist world leaders cannot be tolerated on Albany Times Union

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Netanyahu treats the 5 million Palestinians under Israeli occupation in the same way. Speaking about Israel’s apartheid wall, he said that it was necessary to “defend ourselves against the wild beasts.”
… Racism is how these leaders gain power, and the destruction they cause to their societies is hard to calculate. We see how openly racist leaders in the 1930s led their willing citizenry to genocide. Today we tolerate such leaders at the world’s peril.

South Africa: The Day Gaza Becomes Uninhabitable by Anna Majavu and Anastasya Eliseeva

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Palestinian-South African academic Haidar Eid speaks to New Frame about the day the United Nations said the densely populated Gaza Strip would officially become unsuitable for human habitation. In 2012, the United Nations published research suggesting that by 2016, the main aquifer supplying water to about two million Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip would be “unusable” and that by 2020, the aquifer would have been damaged irreversibly. This would make Gaza uninhabitable by 2020.
… “The terror of it is that Gazans die every day from preventable illnesses as a result of dirty water or the lack of a life-saving operation, or starvation due to the crops that fail to grow without sufficient irrigation, or babies dying because they cannot be kept warm in their first few days of life,” Eid said… Ilan Pappé, an Israeli academic who teaches at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, has described Israel’s policy towards Gaza as one of “incremental genocide”.

Israel and El Salvador: Love in a time of genocide by Belen Fernandez

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

Despite a sizeable Palestinian presence, this tiny Central American country continues to be seduced by a tiny genocidal country on the other side of the world… A recent Al Jazeera video reminds us that, from 1975 to 1979 – the runup to the 12-year Salvadoran civil war – “83 percent of El Salvador’s military imports came from Israel”. Furthermore, Israelis “helped train ANSESAL, the secret police that would lay the foundation for death squads” during the war – during which at least 75,000 people perished. The vast majority of lethal violence was committed by the state and allied paramilitary groups and death squads. In its report titled “Israel’s Worldwide Role in Repression,” the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network documents how Israel not only provided weapons and counterinsurgency training to the maniacal Salvadoran right-wing, but also “helped plan and implement ‘scorched earth’ policies”.

Pro-Palestinian art appears on Old Pecos Trail wall on The Santa Fe New Mexican

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

A Navajo artist who claimed he produced the pro-Palestinian graffiti that appeared Sunday on an east-side wall said his intention was to create a comparison between the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the plight of Native Americans during periods of colonialism and conquest.
The artist, who identified himself only as “Remy,” said in an interview Monday that the images of armed Israeli soldiers and tanks confronting Palestinian women and children show “the similarities when you look at the indigenous struggle of this continent and the indigenous struggle there… “It’s anti-oppression, it’s anti-genocide,” said Remy, of Black Mesa, Ariz., who has had his artwork exhibited in several Southwestern venues in recent years.
