Leonard Cohen and the Concert That Never Was on The MIT Press Reader

For me, somebody who in 2009 had already been a signatory of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) for three years, and had been critical of Zionism as an ideology that purports to speak for world Jewry and as an ideal to which we are supposed to adhere, the Zionist ideology of people like Sharon was something that I had long ago divested myself from. So, seeing my newfound idol sitting next to Sharon, who is like the symbol of everything that has gone wrong (in terms of Jewish nationalism, the displacement of people, and the genocide being waged against the Palestinian people), on the receiving end of Cohen’s art put me into a state of panic.

Solidarity between Palestinians and Indigenous Activists has Deep Roots by Marion Kawas

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The BDS National Committee (BNC) released a powerful statement at the same time as diaspora Palestinians in Vancouver sent greetings to the daily #WetsuwetenStrong protest in that city. Both emphasized the brave and tireless resistance of the indigenous defenders, with the BNC noting that Palestinians owe them “a great debt for teaching us how to resist settler colonialism generation after generation through your powerful resistance, grace and indomitable spirit”.

But these strong expressions of Palestinian support are not new and have a long and rich history.

… In 2012, there was a strong statement of support from Palestinians with the IdleNoMore movement and indigenous rights. Multiple organizations and individuals signed on to show the depth of support and understanding between the two struggles. They said in part:

“We recognize the deep connections and similarities between the experiences of our peoples – settler colonialism, destruction and exploitation of our land and resources, denial of our identity and rights, genocide and attempted genocide.”

Middle East Monitor event (March 28): Cultural genocide & indigenous peoples on Eventbrite

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

An international conference looking at the on-going cultural genocide of indigenous peoples in Palestine, Myanmar and China. Throughout the last century, the Palestinian people were subjected to policies that have often been described as genocidal. They included acts aimed at destroying their national culture, political autonomy and national will. A central feature of this tragedy was the destruction and depopulation of some 418-531 villages. These acts were not consequences of war; they were, in fact, carefully planned and executed.

Yes, Israel wants peace — after it gets rid of the Palestinians by Orly Noy

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

When absolute defeat is the goal, all means are justified. This was precisely what settler leader Uri Elizur had in mind when he wrote his now infamous article — in which he essentially advocated the genocide of the Palestinian people… After we get rid of an entire people — including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure — perhaps then we will conclude that they have been “properly defeated” and we can finally make peace.

Malaysia’s Mahathir: US plan allows Israel’s occupation on Anadolu Agency

Please TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW and send your letter to the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

“This peace plan only recognizes Israeli occupation and completely ignores the rights of oppressed Palestinians,” Mahathir said in his opening address to the third Parliamentary Conference for Al-Quds in Petaling Jaya… “Malaysia has always stood with the Palestinians and rejected Trump’s proposal,” He called on the conference to take a stand against the complete oppression of Palestinians. “This activity should be an opportunity to overcome intimidation, violence and genocide against the Palestinian people.”
