The tragedy of Gaza’s children by Kevin Watkin

This is one of those cases when we archive an article that doesn’t state the word ‘genocide’ in relation to Israel explicitly, but the information in it illustrates acts that amount to genocide against the indigenous Palestinian people, in the context of the phrase “unliveable”.

Two years ago, the United Nations described conditions for the two million people inhabiting the tiny coastal strip as increasingly “unlivable”. And the situation has deteriorated since then.
… Earlier this year, Save the Children, Unicef, and the World Food Programme conducted a survey to document the nutritional status of women and children in vulnerable communities across the Gaza Strip.
The results were shocking.

Israel must end its blockade of Gaza by Mohd Nazari Ismail, BDS Malaysia

This is the inescapable reality on the ground, a reality reflected by various resolutions of international bodies that the Gaza siege is tantamount to collective punishment and a war crime. It is not a reviving of an old tired debate. It is merely a recognition of which party is fully responsible for the slow genocide of Gaza’s children and should bear the full brunt of international pressure to end the blockade of Gaza.

Ang Swee Chai: ‘The Christian in me brought me closer to Palestine’ on FMT News

Until sometime in 1982, a Malaysian woman living in exile in London with her Singaporean husband was all but oblivious to the Palestinian plight.

Penang-born Dr Ang Swee Chai, like many non-Muslims, could not relate to the suffering of the Palestinians owing to the highly charged religious sentiments of their supporters. She grew up supporting Israel.

“My church celebrated when Israel won the Six Day War,” Ang told FMT, referring to the 1967 war that Israel won against Arab forces.

The petite orthopaedic surgeon was in Kuala Lumpur to attend the launching of a new edition of her memoir of the events of September 1982 in Lebanon.

From Beirut to Jerusalem is her eyewitness account as a young volunteer during the Sabra and Shatilla massacre in Lebanon. The killings, blamed on a pro-Israeli Lebanese Christian army, was condemned as an act of genocide by the United Nations General Assembly in December that year.
